Jason Bateman Refuses To Work In Georgia If 'Heartbeat' Abortion Bill Passes

America has been making headlines this past week after various states passed the country's most restrictive abortion laws, prompting people everywhere to voice their outrage against those attacking women's reproductive rights.

Alabama recently signed into law a near-total ban of abortion.

According to The Guardian, this new ban outlaws abortion starting at the moment the woman becomes pregnant, even if baby is conceived through rape or incest.

What's more, the ban isn't just affecting women seeking out abortions.

Any doctors found guilty of performing abortions can face up to 99 years in prison.

Despite this, some Alabama doctors have come forward to state they'll continue performing abortions with many expressing their outrage at their state forcing them to choose between their ethics/medical training and breaking the law.

Lawmakers in Ohio, Kentucky, and Mississippi have proposed "heartbeat" bills.

CNN reported that these proposals were successfully signed into law, and ban abortions after a fetus' heartbeat can be detected.

At this point in time, many women aren't even aware that they are pregnant, meaning their window for aborting the fetus closes before they even realize they're expecting.

Now Georgia is next in line to consider passing a "heartbeat" law, and Hollywood is making their opinion known.

According to Vanity Fair, Georgia is considered the "Hollywood of the South" for the amount of movies and TV shows that are filmed there. These include such hit shows as Stranger Things, The Walking Dead, and Watchmen.

Jason Bateman's hit Netflix series 'Ozark' is also filmed in the state of Georgia.

The third season of the show is due for release sometime in 2019, but Bateman has now come forward to say he will not film anything in Georgia if the 'heartbeat' bill passes, LADBible reported.

A recent interview, he made his feelings towards the state and its potential new law very clear.

"If the 'heartbeat bill' makes it through the court system, I will not work in Georgia, or any other state, that is so disgracefully at odds with women's rights," he told The Hollywood Reporter.

It's unclear what this would mean for the show - whether Ozark would need to change shooting locations or if Bateman would no longer appear on the series.

Bateman has joined dozens of other celebrities voicing their outrage at America's latest abortion laws.

According to LADBible, celebs including Lady Gaga, Kendall Jenner, Pink, and Reese Witherspoon have come forward and publicly denounced the various states passing the country's most restrictive abortion laws.

Actress and TV personality Busy Philips recently sparked a movement on Twitter using the hashtag #YouKnowMe to prompt other women to speak up and share their abortion stories with the world.
