Tati Westbrook Releases New Video Revealing Why She Publicly Dragged James Charles

Tati, who usually uploads a few days a week, took a break from YouTube this week to let the drama around her video about James Charles die.

Unfortunately, it didn't die down at all. In fact, the situation made it onto CNN, and even Fox News.

In the words of Gabriel Zamora, I'm gonna keep it 100 with you guys: I still don't entirely know why Tati did it.

So, we'll start here: Tati thought the video would hurt her, not help her.

As of writing, Tati has 10,439,537 subscribers.

Which she didn't expect.

"When I made that video, I thought that I would be the one that would take the hit."

She continued, "[...] I was going against someone with a lot more power. And I knew that fair well. And I knew this would cause a lot of controversy. I know that."

Tati said: "I do want the hate to stop. I want the picking sides and the abusive memes, and the language, and all of that, I really hope, on both sides, it can stop.

That's not why I made the video."

"This was really a wake-up call, and it was me trying to reach someone who I found completely unreachable.

And I had been trying to deliver the same message so many times, because this wasn't just about one thing."

It wasn't just James' ill-fated deal with Sugarbearhair, or James chasing after straight men.

"The thing is, it's about a lot. It's about a lot that I didn't even talk about."

So, to summarize: Tati publicly called James out on private things that we will never hear about.

I think this is the true reason behind Tati doing what she did.

"It's about someone who reaches, across all platforms, 30 million people that are children. Predominantly children.

And who is losing the ability to get honest more and more each day."

She was frustrated that James would shrug off and laugh at her suggestions to curb his behavior.

She also was upset with the way he was treating her personally.

"[...] with just zero respect, you know, it was just all on his terms."

Because she couldn't get through to him face to face.

"This was just a last-ditch effort for me to be really loud and vocal, and to wake up someone that I really love. And still do. Um, before they go and make some really serious mistakes."

According to Tati, it was something she felt only she could do. And it was something she had to do, or she would regret it.

"No one's really stopping him. No one's going to get through to him. Like, this is gonna end badly, and I will have to sit for the rest of my life and feel like I never said anything."

At that point, she began tearing up.

And she doesn't want anyone else to, either.

"I don't think anyone deserves that. I just don't. I think people deserve a wakeup call, and I think people need to be called out for their actions, and I think someone's gotta do it.

And I hope that this inspires conversation for more parents to talk to their kids, because we're losing that."

She wanted to meet up with him in a neutral space, like the Google offices.

Unfortunately, she didn't say if he agreed to. She was overcome for a moment and paused to collect herself, and seemingly lost that train of thought.

We'll see if they actually met up in a few days, hopefully.

"If I could give all of the new success back, and the new subscribers back, I would. Um, that's not why I did this."

She made it clear that she does not want any of the cruelty or the revelling in James' "downfall" to continue.

"I guess the big thing that I wanted to share, and I've said this many times in the past, and I'll say it again. You know, when someone is called out on their crap, you know, they can do a few different things."

"They can, you know, change, and a great comeback, and really look at what they're doing that's not right and fix it.

And that's all I hope for."
