This 'Game Of Thrones' Theory Suggests A Very Tragic Goodbye To Jon Snow

Game of Thrones is coming to a close, and the build-up is very intense.

There's a lot to wrap-up in one episode, and fans are going crazy as they come up with their own theories on how it will end. Recently, a pretty sad one surfaced about Jon Snow.

Minor Game of Thrones spoilers ahead!

It's time to say goodbye.

HBO

With only one episode left of Game of Thrones, fans are kind of scared to see what will happen.

Jon has only recently reunited with his family, and fans are not ready to say goodbye to him.

Sadly, there's a theory that our goodbye to him will actually be a little more heart-wrenching than we thought.

The theory actually mirrors 'Lord of the Rings'.

HBO

Lord of the Rings is a series that has inspired many fantasy writers.

This particular theory aligns those classic characters with the Game of Thrones characters.

George R.R. Martin has specifically said before that he is heavily influenced by J.R.R. Tolkein, and specifically how he ended the trilogy.

"It ends with victory, but it's a bittersweet victory," he said.

Because of his words in this interview, this got fans speculating.

Will GoT end in a similar fashion and in what ways might it mimic Lord of the Rings?

The theory may have been foreshadowed in the most recent episode.

HBO

In the last episode, Ghost was sent away from Jon to be free in the north, where Jon believes he will be happier.

Meanwhile, Dany is reaching her own breaking point.

This is what has led to the following theory.

The one to rule over all.

HBO

The Iron Throne is meant to be the Ring of Power.

It's the thing that everyone wants, and it's the thing that everyone is willing to kill for.

Daenerys would be a parallel to Gollum.

Daenerys has been making her play for the Iron Throne for as long as we have known her.

This could potentially destroy her, and lead to her downfall.

Bran would be our Aragorn.

Bran has not yet truly made his play in the show, and we're all waiting for him to reveal who he really is.

Bran could be the ruler of all, as he is level headed, and is uncorrupted.

And as for Jon Snow?

He is our Frodo.

He will complete his mission but at a cost. It will break something inside him, and he will end up going to the north to live alone with Ghost.

While it may not be death, it would still be tragic.

The Vanity Fair theory doesn't suggest that Jon would die, but this would still have us in tears.

We only ever saw Jon truly happy in the north, but he would be going there to escape and live in recluse, not to be happy. Jeez, our poor hearts are breaking already.
