See-Through Plastic Pants Are The Latest In Strange Fashion Trends

It seems fashion's latest trends only continue to get stranger and stranger lately. The latest head-scratcher that's en vogue is really steamy.

As in, you'll be steaming up like a lobster in them.

Yes, folks the latest fashion trend emerging on the internet is plastic pants.

Plastic clothing and accessories aren't exactly a new concept.

Remember back in the early 90s when jelly sandals were all the rage? Soon enough people were carrying see-through plastic backpacks and wearing PVC everything.

Since then, the trend has done a 360 and is now back in style.

2018 saw the return of plastic handbags, raincoats and more that embraced the "see-through" trend.

The trend even returned to the shoe department in a big way.

The girl's who loved jelly sandals have all grown up and there's now shoes to meet their plastic footwear needs.

Plastic footwear has been everywhere lately and has been included in numerous fashion collections from Kanye West's Yeezys to Balmain's Spring 2018 show.

Doctor's have even spoken up about the trend.

NYC-based podiatrist to the stars Dr. Suzanne Levine told Page Six about the dangers of wearing the plastic shoe trend.

"You are putting your feet at serious risk by essentially wrapping them in non-breathable plastic," she said.

"Without any aeration, the moist environment can exacerbate pre-existing fungal conditions or bacterial infections, in addition to increasing your risk for blisters."

People on social media have been quick to share their opinions and concerns about the trend.

Because while they do look sort of interesting, they also look wildly uncomfortable to wear.

"Soooo you can't have plastic straws, but.... this? Not only does it look bad and feel horribly uncomfortable," one person remarked.

"The transparent plastic pants are dumb. Fashion is going backwards. May as well be wearing cellophane," another person Tweeted.

"Don’t they stream up when you, ahem, ‘break wind’?" one person joked.

"I just think of the sweat in those things. UGH! Gross," said one person at the sight of the trend.

We're thinking of it too and if the bacteria rule applies to those non-breathable plastic shoes, we would think it's the same when wearing plastic pants.

If you are feeling this literally hot new trend, we'd suggest you proceed with caution. Or at least avoid wearing them on super hot days.
