Marvel's Post-'Endgame' Plans Include Eight New MCU Movies

For more than a decade, we've been able to count on at least one Marvel flick coming out each year. They've become entertainment staples, driving pop culture in a way seldom, if ever, seen before.

The 23rd movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man: Far From Home, will officially bring the current trajectory of the MCU to a close, but really, for many of Marvel's fans, Avengers: Endgame is the big deal as Earth's mightiest heroes said goodbye to some key members.

But not to worry, Marvel fans — neither 'Endgame' nor 'Far From Home' will be the end of the MCU.

The house that Stan Lee built still has plenty in store for us. In fact, it looks like the end of that phase marks a new beginning for the MCU, with at least eight more films scheduled.

Disney, which owns Marvel ,unveiled the plans at a recent presser.

While they didn't mention any particular titles, Disney showed off the expected release dates for the "Untitled Marvel" projects:

So that's at least three more years of superheroes blasting baddies!

And that list doesn't include future Spider-Man movies, because Sony owns the webslinger. Apart from that, the question of which characters will be the stars of those eight upcoming flicks remains.

But it's fair to say that we can probably make some good, educated guesses.

For one, it would make sense for Marvel to return to Wakanda.

Black Panther was one of Marvel's biggest successes at the box office, and it's also the highest rated MCU flick on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 97% fresh rating.

Chadwick Boseman, who plays T'Challa, signed a five-movie deal with Marvel, and Endgame was his fourth.

It also wouldn't be surprising to see Captain Marvel and Doctor Strange return to the big screen.

Again, both Carol Danvers and the Sorcerer Supreme had successful solo flicks before joining forces to oppose Thanos, and so it seems like they deserve more screen time.

It's unknown if Brie Larson will take another turn as Captain Marvel, but, while Disney hasn't attached Doctor Strange 2 to a release date, Den of Geek reports that it's definitely in the works.

Everything appears to be set for Black Widow to get her own origin story flick at long last.

The spymaster has long been rumored to be getting her own solo movie, and it looks like it will finally happen, with ScarJo returning to the role.

Once again, Den of Geek reports that it's definitely happening, with production starting soon.

So that's potentially half the slots right there.

And you have to think that we'll get to see more space hijinks with the Guardians of the Galaxy crew as well. Those flicks are just so much fun, and their soundtracks have been absolute fire.

That would fill five of the eight slots, all to returning characters. So, is there room in the MCU for new heroes?

That does seem more than likely. But who?

As MCU Cosmic reports, one of the characters we might see on the big screen soon is Nova, a hero who Marvel president Kevin Feige has expressed interest in developing in the past.

As a bonus, Marvel fans will have more to look forward to than just big screen releases.

That's right the MCU will be tying in to TV shows currently in production as well, as they've tried to do with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the past, but this time they'll be doing it through the announced Disney+ streaming service.

So, what are you looking forward to the most? Let us know!
