Parents, what lengths are you willing to go to in order to give your child what they need? It all starts in pregnancy — and while pregnant moms are willing to go to all sorts of lengths for their unborn child, this is on another level.

All kinds of evidence exists to support the idea that babies benefit from hearing music while they're in the womb. The idea of playing a little Mozart for the baby's benefit is nothing new.
The company, Babypod, is offering this kit for $150.00. It has everything you need to play music for your unborn child...but there's a twist that makes it a little more unique.
A small speaker, roughly tampon-shaped, is inserted. It has a speaker somewhat like an earbud, and the idea is to transmit music to the baby more directly than traditional methods.
It isn't as far-out as most of the things that Gwyneth Paltrow promotes. But it's still kind of a weird idea. If a fetus can hear music on conventional speakers, why is this necessary?
They say the only situation in which it might not be safe would be in a high-risk pregnancy. Otherwise, though, they say it's safe for virtually all other pregnancies.
It's a simple device, really. It has two ends. One goes in your phone's headphone jack, the other goes in your vagina. I can't believe I just typed those words.
It isn't just speculative: Babypod cites a study that spurred the invention. Researchers found that, from the age of 16 weeks of pregnancy, babies respond well to music that's delivered intravaginally.
On their page outlining mothers' experiences, Babypod has a celebrity endorsement section, featuring two different Spanish pop singers. I think it just might be possible they were paid for their endorsement. But the other testimonials are positive too.
They presented their device at the recent IgNobel Euro Tour. Even though it might not be in most stores right now, it is a viable product currently available for sale.
One interesting feature of the Babypod is an adapter that allows the baby to listen to one thing while the mom to listen to another on a separate set of headphones.
Some parents are willing to put a lot of money towards enriching their kids' lives. Considering the Babypod is $150, it isn't hard to imagine some parents-to-be springing for this.
Moms and moms-to-be, would you consider doing this to give your unborn child a better musical experience? Do you think this is an invention that will succeed, or is it just too weird? Let us know in the comments!
