14+ Things You Should Probably Know About Billie Eilish

Lately, we've been seeing a lot of and hearing a lot about the teenage breakthrough artist, Billie Eilish.

She's become one of the most streamed artists in the world seemingly overnight and there is still so much we don't know about her.

For starters, she's only 17-years-old.

For someone with such a mature sound and deep lyrics that give off the impression of many years of life experience and wisdom, Billie is still just a teenager — wise beyond her years.

She has Tourette Syndrome.

Recently, fans were noticing some of Billie's tics and confronted her about it. She responded by confirming that she was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome as a child.

"I've just never wanted people to think of tourettes every time they think of me," she wrote on her Instagram story, adding, “I’ve taught myself ways of suppressing my tics and certain techniques to help [reduce] them when I don’t want to be distracting in certain situations. Wasn’t planning on talking about this on here maybe ever, but it’s gotten to a point.”

She's a vegan.

She dresses uniquely on purpose.

There is a reason for her interesting, unconventional, head-scratching style.

"I like to be judged, so I wanna see heads look up," she told ET

Dave Grohl is a major Billie Eilish supporter.

Dave Grohl, Foo Fighters frontman, praised Billie's sound, comparing her career's momentum to that of Nirvana.

“The same thing is happening with her that happened with Nirvana in 1991. People say, ‘Is rock dead?’ When I look at someone like Billie Eilish, rock and roll is not close to dead," he said.

She loves the color yellow because she thinks it's a color most people dislike.

“I think of myself as yellow because I think a lot of people used to maybe doubt yellow or not like it because it’s one of those colours that people just sort of hate. Nobody likes it and it’s such a good colour!," she said.

She put a live tarantula in her mouth for one of her music videos.

While many people thought the giant spider crawling into her mouth was a special effect, Billie proved to us that it was not!

"The spider crawling out of my mouth for 'you should see me in a crown' that was real. I could go through way less and just have everything CGI-ed," she revealed.

Her middle name is "Pirate".

Although we know her as simply, "Billie Eilish", that is just her stage name — which doesn't differ that much from her real name: Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell.

She was a dancer before she became a musician.

"I've grown up with a dance background — that's kind of — really how I got into music," she said.
