Costco Is Stocking Ridiculous Three-Pound Lobster Claws

There's something about a lobster dinner, isn't there? For most of us, after growing up on a diet of hot dogs and spaghetti, a lobster dinner is the height of opulent dining, reserved for only the most special of special occasions.

So if you have one of those occasions coming up on your calendar and you want to celebrate in style, maybe swing by your local Costco to browse their seafood section, because folks are finding some whoppers there.

Like this monstrous claw.

Note that this isn't exactly a bargain. That's a $47 lobster claw right there, and although we can't make out the per-pound price, that's still going to be a sizable purchase.

When you take into consideration that, on average, a Maine lobster only weighs 1 to 1.5 pounds, for the whole thing, these claws are ridiculous.

Just imagine the size of tail on this beast! It's no wonder that the folks who find these at Costco are posting pics of them on the internet.

It's not clear exactly where in the country people are finding these claws, however.

It's pretty safe to say that not every Costco could possibly carry them. These must be an unusual sight, even for Costco.

One person on Instagram gave a little review of the claw they found at Costco, a "ginormous" three-pounder.

"We just had to get it," wrote @julesfood, from a location listed as Newport Beach, California. "It might be 1.2 its weight in shell, but worth it already. The family's had their fun photo ops, now it's going on the grill."

In an Instagram story, she noted that the thick shell made the going a bit tough, but the meat "still had nice lobster flavor."

Also not sure how big her family is, but you have to think this beast could easily feed a family of four, maybe even with some leftovers.

It's probably best not to expect to see these claws on store shelves on the regular.

But a seafood lover can dream, right? Clearly dreams do come true sometimes!
