Lori Loughlin Surrenders To FBI As Crackdown On College Admission Crimes Escalates

The Full House actress is one of around 40 rich parents who have been charged by the FBI in the massive college admissions scam now known as Operation Varsity Blues.

This week, the news cycle has been rocked by the news of a massive scam conducted by dozens of rich and famous parents, including Full House actress Lori Loughlin and Desperate Housewives actress Felicity Huffman, to get their children into exclusive colleges.

Operation Varsity Blues


In a scam now called "Operation Varsity Blues" by the FBI, these parents "facilitating cheating on SAT and ACT exams for students and bribing college administrators and coaches to recruit students as athletes."

US Attorney for Massachusetts Andrew Lelling condemned the whole operation, saying:

"There can be no separate college admissions system for the wealthy and I will add there will not be a separate criminal justice system either. For every student admitted through fraud, an honest, genuinely talented student was rejected."

According to the criminal complaint, the cheating happened "by posing as the actual students, and in others by providing students with answers during the exams or by correcting their answers after they had completed the exams."

Their Own Children Didn't Know

The FBI explained that the children that the parents were trying to get into college were unaware of the criminal behavior, including Loughlin's daughter Olivia Jade, an Instagram influencer.

Felicity Huffman Arrested

Felicity Huffman has been accused of making a $15,000 donation to the Key World Foundation, a foundation that allegedly was created as a front for admissions bribery payments.

Huffman was taken into FBI custody early on Tuesday morning at gunpoint.

Out On Bail

She was later released on $250K bail and appeared in court with 10 other indictees.

Her husband, actor William H. Macy, has not been included in the criminal charges.

Lori Loughlin Taken Into Custody

Loughlin was taken into custody by the FBI on Wednesday morning. She and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, were charged with paying a bribe estimating $500,000 in order to get their two daughters admitted to USC under the guise of being recruited by the crew team. Neither girl plays the sport.

Loughlin was booked at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles. She is expected to appear before a federal magistrate U.S. District Court later on Wednesday afternoon.
