Ben Affleck Reveals Why He's No Longer Playing Batman

It seems that Ben Affleck's Batman days are over. Which none of us are really all that surprised about.

Ben's performance as Batman wasn't exactly his most crowning achievement as an actor. It wasn't horrible, but it certainly could have been a lot better. I think people were just used to Christian Bale, and couldn't accept the change.

Fans had mixed feelings about Ben continuing to play the role, but in the end, he decided to retire his cape, and pass the torch on to somebody else.

Last week on an episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live", Ben revealed that he is officially resigning from "Batman".

After playing Bruce Wayne in three movies, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and Justice League.

He tried to connect with Bruce Wayne's character, but it just wasn't working out.

“I tried to direct a version of it and worked with a really good screenwriter, but just couldn’t come up with a version, I couldn’t crack it,” Affleck told Kimmel.

He went on to tell Kimmel that he thinks someone else should take a stab at the role instead of him.

“So I thought it was time to let someone else take a shot at it. They got some really good people, so I’m excited.” Ben added.

Ben was originally suppose to direct and star in the next "Batman" movie, but ultimately there has been a change of plans.

Looks like they're going to have to hit pause on that project until they figure out who the next Batman is going to be.

After appearing on the show, Ben also tweeted out about his decision to leave the role of "Batman" behind.

Looks like it's Twitter official. There's no going back now.

Ben said that he felt like he gave it his best shot, but that the role simply wasn't right for him anymore.

Back in 2017, in an interview with USA Today, Ben expressed how being in a superhero movie is very different from everything else he has done.

“Superhero movies get the level of attention that is nothing like any film I’ve done."

"You cast the 14th lead in these movies and the internet goes crazy,” he said.

“I understand and embrace that. That’s part of the pressure that comes with doing it."

"That’s why I am not going to do it, unless I really feel confident about it.” he added.

In the meantime, Ben has a couple other projects on his hands to fill the void where "Batman" once was.

He's set to star in and produce an adaptation of Kate Alice Marshall’s novel “I Am Still Alive.”

He is also committed to starring in upcoming drama called “Torrance".

Some people are taking the news pretty hard.

Although Ben Affleck as Batman had mixed reviews, some people thought he was the perfect man for the part, and aren't crazy about the idea that he's retired from the role.

The new "Dark Knight" has yet to be cast.

Start making your suggestions and predictions now! The new Batman could be anyone.

Becoming a major superhero is a huge deal, so hopefully they choose carefully this time.

The idea of Robert Pattinson as "Batman" has been floating around.

Christian Bale left some giant shoes that not even Ben Affleck could fill.

Is Robert Pattinson up for the challenge? Only time will tell.

Something tells me that the leading man from the "Twilight" saga might be the worst "Batman" of all time. But hey, that's just me.

He wasn't great in Twilight, a teen movie about sparkly vampires. So what makes us believe that he could pull off a brooding, Batman?

The rumor began when the artist, Bosslogic, posted this photo on Instagram.

"Been hearing some background chatter about Robert Pattinson being looked at, if the talks (source) are true then all of our predictions were wrong," he captioned the photo.

There have been some impressive and not-so-impressive actors who've played "Batman" in the past, but I think that if they're trying to turn things around, Robert Pattinson shouldn't be their first choice.

Who do you think should play the next Batman? The choices are endless, but there can only be one.

I vote for Armie Hammer!
