Meet The 12-Year-Old Who Loves To Make Crochet Creations

In an age where we often worry about children's exposure to screens and the impact it can have on their creativity, one boy is inspiring others by sharing his love for all things crochet.

Since he started sharing his creations on social media, Jonah Larson has gained thousands of admirers online.

He's even inspired some of his classmates to try this art form for themselves.

Check out his amazing story.

Jonah Larson first began crocheting when he was just five-years-old.

He taught himself how to crochet by watching YouTube tutorials. In the seven years since he first picked up a crochet hook, he's mastered his craft.

Now, Jonah makes a variety of crochet creations including hats, scarves, blankets, and toys.

He'll often crochet after school, or even at school during breaks.

"After a very hard, busy, chaotic day in this busy world with school," he said in an interview to NPR, "it's just nice to know that I can come home and crochet in my little corner of the house while sitting by the one I love most: my mom."

The crochet community has welcomed Jonah into their world.

Even though Jonah buys his own yarn and supplies with his profits, it's not unusual for people to send him yarn from around the world. It seems that he has a lot of international fans.

His classmates have also been supportive of Jonah's unique hobby.

While his mom was worried that children would bully him, instead, his peers have been asking him for lessons and are getting hooked on the hobby as well.

Looks like Jonah is leading the way for a new generation of crochet artisans.

Jonah's abilities have won him numerous awards at county fairs.

Jonah is typically the youngest competitor and beats out crocheters who have years of experience on him.

He's also using his talents to give back to the world.

Jonah was adopted from Ethiopia by his parents and he donates a portion of his profits to the orphanage he was adopted from. What an incredible idea!

Since his story first went viral, Jonah has created his own platform online called, Jonah's Hands.

Jonah's Hands is a one-stop-shop for all things Jonah. It includes his inspiring story, information about his charity work, crochet tutorials, and, of course, crochet products for sale.

Most recently, Jonah has been staying busy as a correspondent on "The Drew Barrymore Show".

Jonah has appeared on Drew's show a few times now showing off his latest crochet designs.

Jonah's story is proof that you're never too young to follow your creativity and passion to make your dreams come true.
