Mandy Moore Accuses Ex-Husband Ryan Adams Of Emotional Abuse

Mandy Moore went from having a rapidly growing music and acting career, to essentially radio silence overnight.

It's only recently that she's reemerged better than ever, but what happened in between?

We're just now learning about all that she's dealt with.

In a New York Times story, Mandy has detailed how she put up with years of emotional and verbal abuse from her now ex-husband.

Mandy detailed how Ryan took charge of her music career, limiting her success.

When the pair first met, Mandy was 23-years-old and at a turning point in her career, which she claims Ryan stifled.

He would discourage her from working with any other managers but himself, which left him in charge of her career.

He would book time in a recording studio, but then replace Mandy with other female artists.

Mandy revealed that Ryan would lash out in ways that she would call "psychologically abusive."

“His controlling behavior essentially did block my ability to make new connections in the industry during a very pivotal and potentially lucrative time — my entire mid-to-late 20s,” she revealed.

Mandy also took to Instagram to open up about speaking her truth.

She opened herself up to other women who have also suffered any sort of trauma or abuse.

Several women in Hollywood took to Twitter to defend and support Mandy's claims.

We love when women have other women's backs.

Mandy wasn't alone. Six other women opened up about their history of abuse with Ryan.

Even a young woman who went by the name of Ava, claimed that she and Ryan had "sexual conversations" when she was just a teenager.

Megan Butterworth, Ryan's ex-fiancée, described him as a "controlling and emotionally abusive partner."

Ryan took to Twitter and responded to the claims from the article.

He admitted that he had made mistakes, and apologized to anyone he "unintentionally" hurt.

He went on to say that the picture it painted was "upsettingly inaccurate."

He felt that the details in the article were misrepresented and even false, especially when it came to having interactions with underage women.

He finished by saying that he was saddened by these claims.
