George Clooney Comes To Meghan Markle’s Defense, Compares Her To Princess Diana

Not everyone knows that George Clooney and Meghan Markle are pals, and when it comes to George's friends — you simply don't mess with them.

He's had enough with the media harassing Meghan, and decided to speak up about it.

For some time now, she's been friends with George and Amal Clooney.

How they became friends in the first place, we're not sure. But we do know that the Clooneys attended Meghan and Harry's wedding last year.

It's no secret that Meghan has been facing some hardships in the media lately.

Since the wedding, her personal life has been dragged across the front page of newspapers for all to see and criticize.

Most recently, her father released a handwritten letter that Meghan had sent him, pleading for him to stop speaking with the press about her.

Which is just a trash thing for him to do, really.

George was busy promoting his upcoming series, "Catch-22", when he was asked about being the Godfather to Meghan and Harry's child.

He confirmed to Who that he was not, but decided to take the opportunity to comment on a related issue.

George slammed the media for their treatment of Meghan since joining the royal family.

Because he's George Clooney and he's the best.

"They’re just chasing Meghan Markle everywhere, she’s been pursued and vilified," he began.

"She’s a woman who is seven months pregnant and she has been [...] chased in the same way that Diana was and its history repeating itself."

"We’ve seen how that ends," he said, alluding to the death of Princess Diana.

As we know, Princess Diana was violently chased by paparazzi, which ultimately lead to her death in 1997.

Considering Meghan's husband Prince Harry would be all too familiar with the media circus his mother endured, it makes sense that the treatment of Meghan would hit a nerve with friends and family of the pair.

It just breaks your heart.

But George wasn't finished defending his friend.

"I can’t tell you how frustrating that is, just seeing them broadcast a letter from a daughter to a father, she’s getting a raw deal there and I think it’s irresponsible and I’m surprised by that," he added.

Make a note to self to not mess with Mr.Clooney or his besties.

When you consider that George is a dear friend of Meghan's, his words are that much more impactful.

He's more than likely heard first-hand how the media is affecting her well-being, even if she seems perfectly happy in the public eye.

Unfortunately, Meghan Markle's family has been a source of anguish for the royal couple since they announced their engagement.

Meghan's father, Thomas Markle and her seemed to have the best family relationship outside hers and her mothers.

But with news of Thomas writing a "tell-all" book about his daughter, who knows what's in store for the expectant mother.

But what we do know is that George is more than willing to to stick up for his friend.

Find yourself a friend like George.

Hopefully, his words will be a lesson to the media, and they leave Meghan alone.
