This invention is going to change college students' lives forever.

It's here: The most important food invention since sliced bread. Ohio State University has installed a pizza ATM where students get order cheesy goodness without having to interact with humans or wait for a delivery person.

The pizzas are pre-made in a kitchen on campus and then stored in a refrigeration unit inside the ATM. Currently, only cheese and pepperoni options are available, but they intend to add more toppings in the future.

How it Works

When a user orders a pizza, the pie is automatically removed from the fridge and into the ATM's internal oven where it's baked until the crust is crispy and the cheese is melty.

The machines are loaded with 70 pizzas at a time, so you definitely want to get them while you can.

Cost and Hours

The whole process only takes about three or four minutes. The pizzas are 10 inches and cost $8. The ATM is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for student meal plan holders and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for general use.

Students Love It

Students seem to be fans of the ATM, because why in the world wouldn't they be?

“It’s about a perfect size if you’re trying to get it on the go. So if you don’t have too much time, you can get it and you can just go to class,” said Isaac Cox, a second-year zoology major. “It’s not too big of a pizza, you can really just walk around with it and it’s always nice and hot.”

Abby Hertzfeld, associate director of operations for the Office of Student Life Dining Services, says Ohio State is "always looking for innovative and new ways to provide services to our students." They definitely achieved that.

This is just the pilot program. The school intends to eventually have the ATM open 24/7. That thing might have a line around 2 a.m. every morning.

“Students love to eat at all times of the day and even at breakfast they can eat pizza. They love pizza,” Hertzfeld said. “We’re starting out right now with our pilot program with limited hours but we’re going to continue to extend hours throughout this semester with our ultimate goal of there being 24-hour access for our students when we get to fall semester of 2019.”

So far, so good for the pizza ATM. In its first week, the machines sold about 400 pizzas to hungry students.

Other Schools

Ohio State actually isn't the first school to offer this service. Xavier and Case Western Reserve universities apparently have similar machines. It'll be an outrage if this isn't on every campus in American by the end of the year.

Honestly, Ohio State should feature these machines in their promotional material. This could be a deciding factor for cheese-minded prospective students.
