A Faithful Friend

Kira Beltran of Elk Grove, California and her family adopted sweet pooch Gizmo when both girl and dog were five years old. The two of them were inseparable through Kira's childhood, and although she is a full time student at University of Hawaii at Manoa, she was able to be home for her faithful pup's last day.

Heartwarming Documentation

Now 18, Gizmo's health had been declining steadily in his later years, leaving him deaf and partially blind. His arthritis was also causing him constant pain, so his family decided that putting him down was the kindest thing to do for their little friend. However, not before Kira took him on one last quest for treats. She documented their last day together in a heartwrenching video of Gizmo enjoying one last "puppacino" and the sunshine.

As the screen cuts away from their last moments together in the vet's office, you can see the words "In Loving Memory Of Gizmo" across the screen.

The Best Dog

Kennedy News and Media

Kira just wanted to make Gizmo's last day on earth as great as possible since he had been such a good boy and member of the family.

I was really thankful that I was able to be with him on his last day, so I knew I had to make it special for him. I wanted to make sure Gizmo, my best friend over the years, got as much food as he could and had the best last day any dog could have. He deserved it.

Dogs are also great protectors, even if they're small like Gizmo. But the protection is there, especially for the youngest members of the family.

Rescued Dogs

And while most dog stories are happy, some have had it rough in life and need some extra love to come back around. But the results can be wonderful.

Dogs Want Attention

Of course, too much love or competition runs the risk of a dog getting jealous and going to wild lengths to get equal time. If you're giving another dog attention, you better be ready to give the other dogs some attention too.

Dog Alarm Clocks

They also make great alarm clocks, even if you don't want one.

The main point is that saying goodbye to Gizmo is tough because we all have those relationships with dogs. They're like partners in crime that don't judge you.
