10+ Times Ariana Grande Was A Clapback Queen

There's been a shift in pop culture recently. Ariana Grande went from being a pop princess with a few bops to leveling up to Britney Spears-tier popularity and tossing out hits like they're autographs.

As the current queen of pop and the public face of personal growth and accountability, Ari has also become fearless in her pursuit of tellin' it like it is — and with that has come countless clapbacks on Twitter and Insta.

1. Most recently, a fan of hers put his own "male" spin on her smash hit, "thank u, next," and she had a few things to say about it.

But first, let's get into the guts of this cover and the man who made it, 'cause he had a lot to say too.

This is Twitter user @_izzyofficial, who goes by IZZY.

Scrolling through his tweets, it's pretty obvious that the guy is passionate about making music.

So, like anyone who knows how to ride the trend wave, he decided to release a cover of Ariana's "thank u, next."

In the tweet's caption, he tagged Ariana and wrote, "Fellas, it's our turn..."

Attached is a video of him performing a rap cover.

To really grasp the context of Ari's clapback, we gotta share some of his lyrics with y'all.

"Shout-out to all my fellas out there that got a ex-girlfriend that's been singing this song just a tad bit too loud lately."

Twitter | @_izzyofficial

He continues, "Okay, so you tellin' everybody it's my fault, right? Well, I'm here to tell everybody that's all lies."

"Men ain't s***, but you're the one pickin' the wrong guys."

Twitter | @_izzyofficial

"Go ahead and play that role but really I'm the victim. These females lying out their teeth but I'm just talking wisdom."

"Baby girl, let's keep it real you need some work done. You said I broke your heart but really I'm the hurt one."

"The bullets I was takin' for you came from your gun."

Twitter | @_izzyofficial

"But I just hope that breakin' my heart made you learn some. 'Cause finding someone that's down for you ain't a dime a dozen, just know that karma is a b**** and your time is coming."

"It's funny how you make it seem like I'm the bad guy, when in reality you couldn't get your act right."

Twitter | @_izzyofficial

"I'm glad you showed me your true colors like them tan lines. See, I would sit and talk with you but I can't stand lies."

"But why the f*** are you thanking me? That's a weird flex."

Twitter | @_izzyofficial

"... I really feel bad for the one you choose to be your next. 'Cause you the real definition of devil in a dress."

GOOD lord. Okay, y'all. As the academics would say, there's a lot to unpack here.

Clearly this guy had a lot of bad blood with his ex-lady. But I feel like our girl Ari had the perfect response to his cover.

Initially, she replied with this, and her fans seemed to back what she said.

Twitter | @ArianaGrande

In a thread, a fan replied, "his song is negative and kinda toxic while ari's is about focusing on yourself, growing, and moving on."

Yeah he really turned a wholesome song about having a healthy way to move past relationships into a classic woman-blaming rap. Hmm.

Ariana then followed up with a softer response, which is fine, but we wish she wasn't so understanding and perfect all the time!

Twitter | @ArianaGrande

Obvi it's still thank u, next. But she saw where he was coming from and once she did, so did some of her fans.

However, some people like @intoneedy were still over him, "he really thought he did something huh."

2. How about the time she fiercely defended Pete Davidson and slammed a blog for criticizing his health.

Instagram | @arianagrande

Barstool Sports published an article titled "Does Pete Davidson Have Butthole Eyes?" which, first of all, is an absolute travesty of a story to write.

In the article, they flame Pete for having "eyes like a raccoon" and pretty much make fun of his appearance.

Twitter | @barstoolsports, Twitter

But Ariana wasn't having any of that nonsense. She responded to the story with a calm morality which is a major power move.

3. How 'bout that classic tweet where she wholesomely explained her song titled "Pete."

4. When she sassed a fan with sarcasm 'cause they asked a silly question.

Piggy Smallz is her pet pig, and obviously she has a heat lamp attached to her own crib—because it's what she deserves.

5. There's also the time she clapped back at Pete Davidson's SNL joke, post-breakup.

Twitter | @nbcsnl

In the clip Pete jokingly proposes to Maggie Rogers, who turns him down — he then said he was "zero for three," referencing his and Ari's engagement.

Honestly, it was kinda funny. But Ariana was not here for it, and tweeted-then-deleted this:

Twitter | @ArianaGrande

YES! Destroy him. End his popularized-by-Ariana media cycle! SLAY!

I mean, we all know she went on to release "thank u, next" and he went on to apologize on live television. But still, she got him.

6. There's also that time she shut down haters who were making fun of her forehead in this photo.

Instagram | @arianagrande

First of all, people are pure evil and can literally say something negative about ANYTHING.

When y'all parents said you can do anything you put your mind to, this was not what they were thinking, chief.

Ariana snapped back at them with maybe her spiciest tweet ever.

Twitter | @ArianaGrande

Once again, tweeted and deleted — but forever in our hearts (and our screenshot collection).

7. The time people were blaming her for Mac Miller's self-destructive behavior after they split and she had a LOT to get off her chest about all of that.

Twitter | @ArianaGrande

It's really sad to think there are people out there who really believe she had any fault in Mac's situation.

We wrote a lot more on the subject, just 'cause her response to the Mac Miller accusations warranted some unpacking.

8. When someone shamed her for showing skin, and she absolutely destroyed them.

Facebook | Ariana Grande

"The double standard is so boring and exhausting." BIG FACTS.

9. When she had a two-worded response to someone hating on her iconic look

Instagram | @commentsbycelebs

Girl, bye. We don't need any of that negative nonsense.

10. When she flamed body shamers on Nicki Minaj's insta post.

Instagram | @nickiminaj

"How about we respect people's body boundaries and encourage each other to feel like a babe no matter how they are?"

YES, boo. If Ariana is lecturing on body positivity, I AM ENROLLING, PARTICIPATING, AND GOING TO OFFICE HOURS! TYSM.

11. That time she shut down rumors of cheating and roasted a commenter on Insta.

Instagram | @theshaderoom

The fact that she stays composed and has any patience through all of this stuff is truly legendary.
