Chrissy Teigen And John Legend Just Publicly Roasted Each Other

Maar 14 Nov 2018

You don't have to love Chrissy and John, you don't even have to like them. But you gotta' admit — they are one heck of a power couple.

Forget that they both have their own careers — and successful ones at that — but just as a couple in general. They've got this admirable quality that makes you want to double-date with 'em.

They have had their fair share of public Kodak moments.

And TBH every single one reels us, the weirdo relationship fans, in deeper.

But it isn't just that they rock some appealing Instagram aesthetic, or that they're both insanely good looking (which they are).

What makes them our OTP, the focus of our stanning, the couple goals they are...

...is that they LOVE to roast each other, just like regular couples do. And they do it with love and hilarity.

Now, Chrissy is pretty darn notorious for trolling EVERYONE, especially on social media.

She's such an expert, in fact, that DJ T — yes, that DJT — literally blocked her on Twitter. LOL.

But John is a little more reserved with his roastin' and toastin'.

So when we heard their back-and-forth during the Glamour Women of the Year Awards...well, our hearts were full of so much love, and then so much laughter.

John began his tribute in the most perfect way.

YouTube | Gamour Magazine

In the video, shared by Glamour Magazine, John starts by stating exactly who he is. "Hello everyone. I'm John — also known as Chrissy Teigen's trophy husband."

Load Comments

To be fair, that's sort of what he has become to a lot of her fans.

John discusses it later in his speech, but people really love Chrissy.

Maybe they're both trophies.

He goes on to explain how Chrissy has changed his life — this is where it starts getting funny.

Instagram | @johnlegend

"Everywhere I go, I meet people — fans — who used to ask me for an autograph, or tell me how much they loved my music," he said.

"Now, the number one comment I get from people who USED to be my MY fans...is how much they loooove Chrissy."

Giphy | Emmys

John continues with his tribute, but it's slathered in their classic sarcastic tone: "She gets bigger cheers at my own concerts than I do. They love her!"

Then he starts getting mushy — but we're here for it.

Instagram | @johnlegend

"People love her honesty, her humor, her beauty and style, her passion for food, her sense of adventure and fun. And they love her big, beautiful heart."

D'aww.

"She's the kind of woman who you write songs about..."

Instagram | @johnlegend

He continues with a li'l more humor: "Have you heard any songs about Chissy Teigen before? One of them went to number one on the Billboard charts — but this is about Chrissy!"

We love a humble brag TBH.

The song he's talking about is "All of You."

Giphy | John Legend

The song spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard hot 100 and made every woman in the country say, "Why can't you write a song for me?!" to their boo.

He talked about an event where Chrissy felt like she didn't belong.

Giphy | The Voice

With tears in his eyes and a shaking voice he explained, "She felt like she didn't belong in the company of people like Oprah, and Michelle Obama, and Christine Lagarde."

Load Comments

"Well, I'm here to say that you belong."

Instagram | @chrissyteigen

He continued, "And I think it's become very clear to Glamour Magazine, and to millions of people around the world that you are more than worthy of this honor tonight."

John tearfully introduced Chrissy as 2018's Glamour's Woman of the Year, and his woman of the year every year.

YouTube | Gamour Magazine

Chrissy began her speech in a shaky voice, "Hi, um, I was ready to be the lighthearted one, and like, come up and just be funny... But like, honestly John didn't cry when I gave birth!"

LOL. It's kinda sweet that he teared up for his boo. Now let's get to the roastin'.

She thanked him and then got straight into roasting him.

"When John was talking about that event—" she then turns to John, "I'm actually mad at you, because I was gonna talk about that event!

She discussed that same event, and explained how everyone was talking about what they do.

YouTube | Gamour Magazine

"When they got to me they asked what I did, and I said I didn't know." Chrissy began to tear up, "I didn't know what I was going to do, I didn't know what I could be."

Chrissy quickly made a joke outta her crying, though.

YouTube | Gamour Magazine

"PLEASE don't post this. Nobody will ever— do not ever show anyone that I cry, or have emotions. Don't post this."

Load Comments

"I joke about it a lot, but I truly have the most incredible husband on the planet."

YouTube | Gamour Magazine

"You are our everything... We've grown together, our family's grown together, our careers have grown together.

This is so sappy. I'm sorry, I hate it. I didn't cry during our wedding! Ugh. I hate you, John. I really do."

In closing, she talked about her battle with postpartum depression, and how John supported her.

YouTube | Gamour Magazine

"John, you were there for every bit of it, and you helped me through everything.

And I just can't believe the life we created together and I'm so so honored to have this platform. "

They gently roasted each other here and there, but it was all in the name of tender love.

And to be fair, we wouldn't have expected anything else from them.

John wears his heart on his sleeve, and Chrissy wears her funny bone!

Like I said, she's pretty notorious for her trolling skills.

Instagram | @chrissyteigen

For instance, she captioned this photo, "my baby got another honorary doctorate! I have a bunch too I just don't brag about all the time." LOOOOL.

She doesn't limit herself to Insta, either.

Twitter | @chrissyteigen

Her Twitter is truly a gift from God, and hella relatable for us funny gals — or gals that think we're funny. And force it upon our significant others...

And then there's the classic "Arthur" shenanigans that literally everyone agrees with.

Twitter | @chrissyteigen

No one can deny how similar John Legend and Arthur look — not even his own wife. But I feel like he's taken it pretty well.

Chrissy has also come to learn about her cartoon twin.

Instagram | @chrissyteigen

She shared this, and captioned it, "Omggggggahhhh “legs go all the way up” girl nooooooo."

This is true essence of their relationship! Playful and loving.
