Fans Believe Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's Pregnancy Announcement Was A Nod To Princess Diana

As you most likely have heard by now, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expecting their second child. The news is the best and most exciting we've received thus far in 2021 and I stand by that statement with my mind, body, and soul.

Now, fans have noticed a sweet coincidence that many believe is a tribute to the late Princess Diana.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have spent the past year working on keeping their family away from the royal spotlight.

Since stepping down as senior royals last year, the pair can pick and choose what news they wish to share with the world.

As fans may recall, Meghan shared a heartbreaking essay about her miscarriage this past summer.

In November, Meghan published an essay with The New York Times about the tragedy she and her husband had gone through.

She began the essay by explaining that the day she lost her baby was a day like any other.

Tragedy struck on a "morning that began as ordinarily as any other day: Make breakfast. Feed the dogs. Take vitamins. Find that missing sock. Pick up the rogue crayon that rolled under the table. Throw my hair in a ponytail before getting my son from his crib."

"After changing his [Archie's] diaper, I felt a sharp cramp."

"I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right," she wrote, as per TMZ.

"I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, I was losing my second," Meghan revealed.

"Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband's hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears."

She went on to explain why she wanted to share her story:

"Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few... In the pain of our loss, my husband and I discovered that in a room of 100 women, 10 to 20 of them will have suffered from miscarriage. Yet despite the staggering commonality of this pain, the conversation remains taboo, riddled with (unwarranted) shame, and perpetuating a cycle of solitary mourning."

Needless to say, fans were overjoyed when the pair announced their rainbow baby.

The news of Meghan's pregnancy was announced on Valentine's Day with a beautiful, intimate photograph.

The couple's longtime friend and photographer, Misan Harriman, shared the photo on their Instagram.

"Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin, and my friend, I am honoured to capture it grow. Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyous news!" they shared.

Soon after the announcement, fans noticed a sweet coincidence.

On the same day back in 1984, Princess Diana announced she was expecting her second child.

That child was, of course, Prince Harry.

Naturally, fans were quick to point out the tribute.

"I love that they’ve announced it on [Valentine's] Day given that Princess Diana announced she was pregnant with Harry on Valentine’s Day it’s a beautiful way to include her," tweeted one fan.

Everything the duke and duchess do is so thoughtful and beautiful, so this doesn't surprise me at all!

I am so happy for the pair's rainbow baby, and I'm excited to see what amazing things they will do for the world — just like their mom and dad!
