Auto Shop Turns Great-Grandfather's Truck Into A Custom Bed

There are many things in life that are special and sentimental to families. When it comes to items that our families cherish, it's hard to find a place for them when they begin to get older and fall apart. For example, trucks and cars can be passed down in families for generations. But, eventually, they too old to continue driving them.

Sometimes, family members will work on older cars to keep them around.

Sometimes, families come up with creative and unique ways to keep family items in their family and in their home for years to come.

Recently, one family took their grandfather's old Chevy truck and repurposed it.

The family clearly had a close relationship with the grandfather, and the truck had been in the family for what seems to be years.

Using an autoshop, the family found a new purpose for the truck.

Instead of keeping the truck up and running as a car, they repurposed it to give their son as a bed. How clever is that?!?

The bed has all the original body work.

The original taillights, color, and windshield were kept in place for the bed. And, all they did was remove the actual bed of the truck to make room for a real bed.

They even kept the trailgate!

They even had the tailgate still working for the little guy to use and get in and out of the bed if needed that way. So awesome!

People online loved this idea so much.

Many people said that they've seen cool things turned into beds, but never a truck like this. It really is a great idea.

Many said it was a great "tribute" to their grandfather.

Now this little guy will always know this truck was his grandfathers, and it's an awesome way to keep his memory alive and well.

One user had an excellent point, too.

One Facebook user said the bed can be passed down even further generations, becoming a new "family heirloom." What a great idea!
