Dad's DIY Experiment Proves Parents Don't Need To Spend Money On Baby Toys

As parents, we always feel the need to spend a ton of money on toys when our kids are young. The baby toy market is one that is always filled with toys and gadgets that foster "growth and learning". But, those toys also have a pretty hefty price tag that comes along with them. Regardless, parents are always splurging to get baby toys so our little ones can have fun.

When it comes down to it, most of the baby toys don't get a lot of use.

I remember spending hundreds on toys and watching them all collect dust for months and months until eventually, they ended up in the donation box or given to friends for their new little ones.

In the long run, kids usually find themselves wanting more of what we use than their own toys anyway.

I remember watching my niece and nephew look for everything my sister had in her hands — her coffee cup, her phone, her watch— over their own toys.

Recently, one dad on Facebook showed that it's 100% the truth.

To showcase that we waste our money on baby toys, dad Austin Miles Geter posted a video to Facebook with his daughter .

In the video, he gives her a few options.

First, he offers her the baby toy phone with bright colors and sounds, or a busted up old phone that "looks like Mommy's." She happened to choose the broken phone.

He does it with his game controller, too.

He asks if his daughter wants her unicorn game controller or Daddy's boring one. Of course, she goes for her dad's "boring-looking" one.

No pink tablet for her, either.

She doesn't want that pink and sparkly tablet, she wants the plain, black tablet. She reaches right for it!

However, she didn't want either of the books.

Her dad offered her his book or her musical sound book — but this little one had no interest in reading either one.

In the end, a valid point was made.

While these toys aren't colorful, sparkly, and new, his daughter wanted all of them over her baby toys anyway. The dad makes a valid point that old items can be used as baby toys instead of splurging on things.

One Facebook user made a solid point.

One person commented saying that kids are, "... interested in the real world" because they are, "... at the beginning of the journey."

Smart!
