'Mandalorian' Fans Calling For Lucy Lawless To Replace Gina Carano After Being Fired

Disney shocked the world this morning when they announced that they have cut ties with Gina Carano.

The actor and mixed martial artist portrayed Cara Dune on The Mandalorian.

Her firing comes after she made a controversial social media post. But fans aren't mourning Gina leaving the franchise for long, as they already have an actress in mind to replace her: Lucy Lawless.

By now, you've probably heard about Gina Carano being fired from *The Mandalorian*.

If not, let's get you up to speed.

Gina found herself let go from Lucasfilm (owned by Disney) after she shared a post on social media that implied that being a Republican today is like being Jewish during the Holocaust.

This controversial post got the hashtag #FireGinaCarano trending.

"After what I read, and ESPECIALLY when watching Trump’s impeachment hearings where they are showing more never before seen videos of terrorists wanting to hang Congressmen, she deserved to get fired. #FireGinaCarano," added another.

Soon after, Lucasfilm released a statement.

"Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future."

They also criticized her post, showing people where they stood on the matter.

"Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."

Gina's firing didn't sit well with many fans. Soon, they began tweeting out against the decision.

"#FireGinaCarano The character in the show has nothing to do with her in real life. stop the cancel culture [expletive]. Who cares what she does in her personal life she did a kickass job in the show which is what should matter," wrote this user.

#IStandWithGina and #CancelDisney+ even began trending.

But fans didn't mourn Gina leaving the franchise for too long.

That's because there are already several people who they think should replace her! These names come despite the fact that Disney hasn't confirmed whether they plan to replace Gina's character.

Jon Favreau, creator of *The Mandalorian*, even admitted that he wrote Cara Dune's character with Gina Carano in mind.

He didn't audition anyone else and he even named the character after Carano.

Despite this, fans are lobbying for different actors to step into the iconic role.

Top of that list is the fantastic and well-known actress, Lucy Lawless.

NBC

In case you don't know who she is, she's the former star of Xena: Warrior Princess.

The idea of the 52-year-old New Zealand actress stepping into the role was first pitched by Dungeons & Dragons podcasters @SeveredSonsDnD.

“Instead of #canceldisneyplus, can they just cast Lucy Lawless as Cara Dune and pretend it was her the whole time?” they tweeted.

Their idea clearly resonated with fans, as it currently has over 21 thousand likes.

"What if Lucy Lawless took over as Cara Dune and we all just pretended she was always Cara Dune?" added another.

They do have a similar look and warrior personality.

She may even help Disney with their profits, as this user pointed out.

“Hear me out, casting Lucy Lawless as Cara Dune would sell SOOO many action figures. I’m just saying. She’d bring in a lot of bank,” wrote @IsabelSDieppa.

Disney may be wary to cast Lawless in the role, though, since she, too, has stirred up social media controversy.

Back in January, she slammed her former Hercules costar, Kevin Sorbo, for "enabling the fact that it was "leftist agitators" who broke into the U.S. Capitol on January. 6.

One thing is for sure, these two won't be working together anytime soon...

And as for the fate of The Mandalorian, Disney+ has yet to release a comment on whether Gina's character will be replaced.

Lucy Lawless has also yet to comment on the social media rally for her to take on the role.
