JoJo Siwa Responds To Having Police Called On Her Home After Coming Out As LGBTQ+

JoJo Siwa is a very familiar face in the world of children's entertainment as a dancer, YouTuber, musician, and influencer, which is why her coming out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community was so widely celebrated as a positive step forward in the world.

Unfortunately, some reactions to her bravery have not been all kind and supportive.

JoJo Siwa made history last week when she came out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

"I have gotten the most endless amount of love and support," she said in a video at the time. "I'm really happy. Now that the world gets to see this side of my life... it makes me really, really, happy."

However, JoJo opened up about a reaction to the news that wasn't so positive — someone calling the police and SWAT team to her house via a fake tip or threat.

This practice is known as "swatting."

"We're at our house, and all of a sudden, there was a whole bunch of police telling us to come outside the house," JoJo said in a livestream after the fact.

JoJo explained that her family reacted calmly.

"We went outside, hands up, because you have to obviously follow the rules, and then the police were saying that somebody had called and made a claim. And then, all of a sudden, paparazzi came from around the corner," JoJo said.

"It's called 'swatting,' where the media will actually call the police, so that way you have to come outside your house."

"I think because I recently came out to the internet, the media is obviously very excited, which I love, and I love the support. However, you could've just hung outside my house and I would've eventually come outside my house."

"I feel bad because there [were] about 50 police at our house," JoJo added.

"Those police could've had a much better time spent somewhere else actually helping somebody, instead of dealing with a fake claim from paparazzi."

We're so glad to hear that JoJo is alright!
