Bernie Sanders Is Now Selling His Inauguration Meme As Sweatshirts For Charity

Just when you think you'll finally escaped the viral "Bernie Sanders at the inauguration" meme, bam! There it is again! And this time, it's in sweater form.

But before you get upset and complain about how sick you are of seeing a mittened 79-year-old politician making the rounds on the internet, you should know that these shirts are actually for a really good cause.

And they're Bernie-approved.

First of all, let's take a moment to really appreciate Sanders' in all his relatable glory, shall we?

Look, I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say the last thing we expected from Joe Biden's inauguration was for Bernie Sanders, of all people, to go viral.

In fact, if you'd asked me who one of the biggest names of the day would have been, I'm not even sure he would have cracked my top 10 list of guesses.

But thanks to the power of the internet, and a pair of particularly snazzy mittens, Sanders has become the most viral meme of 2021 thus far.

Honestly, all he was really trying to do was stay warm while witnessing Joe Biden be sworn in as the 46th President of the United States.

But with his crossed legs, crossed arms, askew face mask, and those gosh darn mittens, the seated senator found himself inexplicably skyrocketed into viral fame.

Now Sanders' campaign has effectively taken that newfound fame and put it to good use with some new merchandise.

Dubbed the “Chairman Sanders Crewneck”, the sweatshirts are currently on sale on Sanders' official website for $45, with every penny going towards supporting Meals on Wheels Vermont.

If you want to score one yourself, you better be prepared for a bit of a wait as the website explains high demand means the sweaters won't be delivered for 4-8 weeks.

While you're waiting, you might as well take a look at how the supremely good-natured Sanders recently reacted to his fame.

In an interview with Seth Meyers on Late Night this past week, the meme was inevitably brought up and the senator admitted, “I was just sitting there, trying to keep warm, trying to pay attention to what was going on.”

Just to add even more wholesomeness to this phenomenon, Sanders added that the woman who actually made his famous mittens, Vermont schoolteacher Jen Ellis, was been overwhelmed with commission requests.

That just goes to show you the true power of Sen. Bernie Sanders!
