Lady Gaga just had one of the highest honors that a musician in American can possibly hold — the responsibility of singing the national anthem during the presidential inauguration for the 46th President of The United States, Joe Biden.
Fans couldn't help but be reminded of a certain media franchise by her powerful outfit.
She sounded absolutely fantastic, but fans also couldn't help but comment on her outfit, which was a dark, long sleeve-topped dress with a wide, brightly colored skirt, topped off with a large gold pin of a dove that matched the gold microphone and the black and gold fabric weaved throughout her hair.
Honestly, she did sound absolutely amazing, and I know her performance of the national anthem definitely tops my list of most moving renditions of the song I've ever heard!
Gaga has been incredibly passionate and vocal about her political beliefs and her support for Joe Biden during the electoral campaign, so this was a huge moment, not only for her fans listening, but for her, receiving that honor!
"My intention is to acknowledge our past, be healing for our present, and passionate for a future where we work together lovingly. I will sing to the hearts of all people who live on this land. Respectfully and kindly, Lady Gaga," she wrote.
Needless to say, her performance was a hit, and so was her outfit!
"I genuinely thought Lady Gaga was wearing a Hunger Games mockingjay at first, and was like.....this probably doesn’t send the message we want lol," one fan tweeted.
"If Lady Gaga didn't have such an amazing voice I would think she's introducing the Hunger Games," another fan added.
"A dove carrying an olive branch. May we all make peace with each other," she explained.
Many fans loved the idea of promoting peace, especially during a time where there's been a lot of unrest and divide in this country!
"So many people engage in performative activism nowadays, but i can really tell that you are fully invested in what you [stand] for. thank you for everything you do, today and every day. we’re proud of you gaga," one fan tweeted.
A photograph of someone handing Lady Gaga a golden microphone incredibly close to former Vice President Mike Pence's face also went viral, with many noting that Gaga had harshly criticized Pence in the past for his anti-LGBTQ+ beliefs.
It is a pretty powerful moment, and it also shows off Gaga's gorgeous dress, letting people get a look at the wide skirt that many also made a few jokes about, claiming it was forcing people (and Vice President Pence) to remain socially distanced from her.
Her performance, her outfit, and her gold accessories were all incredible, and definitely caused a big stir for all the people watching at home!
The dove is a gorgeous touch!
