Side By Sides Of The Marvel Cast In Movies And In Real Life

The world of makeup and CGI has come a long way, especially as it pertains to filmmaking. More often than not, our favorite actors are cast in extremely high profile roles, yet are unrecognizable.

That's certainly the case for the majority of actors in the MCU. Have a look at these side by sides of the marvel cast in movies and in real life to get a better idea of what I'm talking about.

Pom Klementieff as Mantis.

Mantis is a relative newcomer to the MCU but her impact has been felt in a huge way.

I don't know about you guys, but I definitely prefer Pom with Blonde hair. You can't fault her for her choice of reading material, either.

Christopher Eccleston as Malekith.

It's been well-documented that Christopher Eccleston did not enjoy his time spent on the set of Thor: Dark World. He described it as "having a gun put in your mouth," to Indie Wire.

There's no denying it, his transformation into Malekith was incredible.

Ben Mendelsohn as Talos

If I'm being honest, I'm usually the first one out of a movie theater once the credits begin to roll. I wasn't even aware that Ben Mendelsohn was, in fact, Talos!

I know what Marvel movie I'm watching tonight!

Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha.

Elizabeth Debicki stands at a beautiful (and towering) 6'2". In my mind, there was no one better to take on the role of Ayesha in the MCU.

We're still waiting for the debut of Adam Warlock, Marvel. Get on it!

Paul Bettany as Vision.

Paul Bettany's devotion to Vision is truly a labor of love. Every single day that Paul was on set, it would take a minimum of three hours to apply his makeup.

That's not even factoring in how long it took to remove it.

Hugo Weaving as The Red Skull.

I would really like to see Marvel revisit the Red Skull. He's one of the few villains in the MCU that could support his own standalone flick, and I firmly believe it's an avenue worth exploring.

I know he's previously played Magneto, but Michael Fassbender would be an incredible choice.

Lee Pace as Ronan.

Wow. Lee Pace is actually one handsome looking dude once you take away the blood-stained armor and black face paint. Ronan's blue skin pigment wasn't helping, either.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I wish they hadn't done away with Ronan so soon.

Kelsey Grammer as The Beast.

Sometimes the casting department just hits the nail right on the head. Such was certainly the case when it came time to tap Kelsey Grammer to play Hank McCoy AKA The Beast.

I know Kelsey is too old for a live-action film, but he'd be the perfect voice-cast in an animated X-Men feature.

Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse.

I'm starting to notice a recurring theme with blue characters in the MCU. Think about it for a second:

Nightcrawler, Mystique, Yondu, Apocalypse, and Nebula are all blue. It kind of makes you stop and wonder; was blue Stan Lee's favorite color?

Michael Rooker as Yondu.

I absolutely love Michael Rooker in everything he's ever appeared in. All the makeup in the world couldn't hide the fire in those eyes, nor that devilish charm in his toothy grin.

Did anyone else cry when he died in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 or was it just me?

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.

The best thing about the image on the left is that Ryan has the Deadpool mask ever so cleverly placed in the corner of his closet.

I'm not normally a supporter of sequels, but bring on Deadpool 3!

Zoe Saldana as Gamora.

Finally, someone in the MCU who isn't blue! Can you imagine what it must feel like to have to paint yourself green from head to toe every single day that you showed up to work?

Zoe's mental resolve must be as strong as steel.

Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique.

The average workday for most of us is 8 hours. For Jennifer Lawrence, it took 8 hours just to apply the makeup for Mystique in X-Men: First Class.

Luckily for her, it was later reduced to only three hours.

Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer.

Of all the characters in the MCU, Drax is hands down my favorite. Dave Bautista was born to play the Destroyer, although it couldn't have been easy.

It took Dave over 5 hours to apply the makeup and 18 accompanying prosthetic pieces.

Karen Gillan as Nebula.

I've saved the best for last! Karen Gillan actually shaved her head for the role of Nebula.

She'd also sweat so much during action scenes, that it would sometimes squirt out in bursts from beneath the prosthetics. Can I get a "yuck"?
