10+ Celebrities Who Prefer To Use Natural Medicine

When most people get sick, they go to the doctor to get medicine.

But when certain holistic-loving celebs get sick, they go a whole different route. Instead of leaning on Western medicine, they opt for natural alternatives instead.

This includes yoga, meditation, and even drinking their urine... For more, here are 10+ celebs who prefer to use natural medicine.

1. Suzanne Somers

The Three's Company believes in natural medicine so much, she even used it to cure herself of cancer.

For this, she used alternative methods, such as injecting herself with mistletoe extract, making gratitude lists, and prioritizing sleep.

2. Farrah Fawcett

The original star of Charlie's Angels was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006.

In addition to going the chemo route, she would fly to Germany to get natural supplements and immune treatments.

Sadly, she passed away in 2009.

3. Dr. Oz

As a doctor, you would think that the talk show host would recommend traditional medicine.

But he's actually a fan of alternatives, as he recommends mud baths for people with arthritis or other joint problems.

4. Princess Diana

Back when she was alive, the royal was a regular at an alternative-medicine treatment facility called Chinese Clinic.

It was there that she got reflexology treatments to take care of any ailments in her body, such as the feet and hands.

5. Liv Tyler

The actress believes that transcendental meditation has made her a better mother.

This is the practice of sitting in silence and repeating a mantra for 20 minutes, two times per day. It "helps everything in your life," she said at a charity event in 2012.

6. Eva Mendes

Eva is another celeb who's a fan of transcendental meditation to solve life's problems.

"That really helps create not only a sense of balance, but all the other stuff — this is going to sound cliché, but, serenity and kind of a calm state of mind," she told SpotCeleb.

7. Kate Moss

When the model was seeking help for her cocaine addiction, she did one of two things: she checked into rehab, and she used acupuncture.

It's been claimed to reduce withdrawal symptoms and even prevent relapse.

8. Madonna

Not many can forget the time the singer went on The Late Show With David Letterman and claimed that urinating on your feet is a cure for athlete's foot in 1994.

That's not the only use she found for urine...

She has also said that immersing oneself in freezing-cold water is the “best treatment for injuries.”

She follows this with another (warm? cold?) glass of urine.

“It’s really good to drink urine after you’ve got out of the frozen bath,” Madonna said.

9. Steve Jobs

When the late Apple co-founder found discovered that he had pancreatic cancer, he went against his doctors' wishes by trying to heal himself using an extreme vegetarian diet.

This meant drinking carrot juice non-stop and not much else.

Ashton Kutcher even took on this diet when he was preparing to play Steve in the biopic, *Jobs.*

This meant drinking carrot juice "nonstop, all day long." While it may sound healthy, it soon led to him having "crazy pancreatitis."

10. Kristin Cavallari

You won't find vaccines anywhere near the reality star's kids. She has three of them with ex, Jay Cutler.

This is something that has caused her a lot of backlash from those who don't agree with her parenting methods.

"There are very scary statistics out there regarding what is in vaccines and what they cause -- asthma, allergies, ear infections, all kinds of things," she said while on *Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen*.

She concluded this with saying that she's just trying "to make the best decision for my kid."

11. Shailene Woodley

The Divergent star is all about a holistic lifestyle.

In addition to becoming an instructor, he does a mixture of an hour and a half of yoga and 40 minutes of meditation daily.

13. Gwyneth Paltrow

Let's be real, she's the queen of natural medicine.

She talks about it all the time on her website Goop, which has taken a lot of flack for her beliefs, and even had a show about trying alternative methods on Netflix.

Throughout the years, she has promoted everything from getting stung by bees for beauty to vagina steaming.

She even credited acupuncture for doing a better job of helping her heal from being sick.

"The root of the problem is addressed, as opposed to a symptom being attended to with prescription medication, only to return," she wrote.

14. Jennifer Aniston

She even has one in her own home! She used to use it with Justin Theroux back when they were married.

"You don't know the history of psychiatry. I do," he said in a fired-up interview with Matt Lauer.
