The 'Doorstep Challenge' Is A Heartwarming Way To Spread Some Holiday Cheer

Christmas is a wonderful time to spend with those you love, although it might look a little different this year due to the pandemic. Many of us are fortunate to be able to afford holiday decor, festive food, and buying presents for our family and friends.

However, some are less fortunate than us or have had a really challenging year. So, why not take part in this beautiful gesture to spread some holiday cheer? Read on to find out about this cute viral challenge.

It's called the "Doorstep Challenge" and the premise is pretty simple.

You pick a deserving neighbor or anyone who has been struggling this year. Then, you choose a gift for them. Big or small, one or many — the choice is yours.

The next step is to write an anonymous, heartfelt note to them.

Let them know why you were thinking of them during this holiday season. It's not to show pity but it's to let them know there's somebody out there who cares about them and their family.

Then, you leave the gifts on their doorstep.

Make sure they're home at the time so nobody else can take the gifts. Ring the doorbell and run like heck. Don't let them see you. The idea of it is that don't know who it's from.

That's it. Doesn't that sound simple or what?

Now, you can feel happy that your gifts will hopefully make their day. What a sweet idea, huh? Perhaps this would be the only chance for them to have something this Christmas season.

It's basically a different take on "random acts of kindness" with a holiday twist.

Imagine if you were the person or family who discovered this gift on their doorstep? Wouldn't that make you feel more loved? I definitely think so.

If you're dropping gifts off for a family consider getting something they can use together.

For example, board games, puzzles, cookie or gingerbread house decorating kits, and the like. Or you can also leave them a gift card to do some grocery shopping.

It doesn't matter that much what you get as it's the thought that counts.

You can gift winter wear like hats, scarves, mittens that anyone can use. You can also give the gift of books for the kids and such.

Another idea would be to get some toys for the children.

You never know maybe their parents won't be able to get them anything this year. It's been a rough year for many of us but some people have been hit harder than others.

What do you think of this idea? I love this sweet gesture.

If I knew a family in need I would do this in a heartbeat. Christmas is the time of the year to spread love and good cheer.
