Drew Barrymore Helps A Formerly Homeless Veteran By Paying Off His Mortgage

If I was rich and famous, there's only one thing I'd want to do — give back to those who need it!

Well, okay, I also might like to purchase a big vacation house somewhere in the Bahamas to escape to every time the temperature drops below "light jacket" levels, and maybe I'd finally be able to afford adopting all the pets I'd ever want (does Jason Momoa count as a pet? Asking for a friend), but the most important thing that I would do with my money is give back to those who need it.

We love it when the rich and famous use their wealth in positive ways!

Sure, any old celebrity can buy a hundred houses and expensive clothes they'll only wear once, but when celebrities find in their heart to use their power and influence to help the less fortunate, that's when we know they're one of the good ones!

Drew Barrymore is definitely one of the good ones.

She's definitely a talented actress (I could watch Charlie's Angels all night, and I did binge all of Santa Clarita Diet in basically one night) but she's also incredibly charming and one lovable person as her talk show The Drew Barrymore Show has proven.

In a recent episode, she really gave back in a meaningful way.

In a recent episode of her show, Drew brought on a very special guest.

In introducing veteran Anthony Burrow, Drew said "he has overcome being homeless, he has served in our military state-to-state, and he was actively deployed in Iraq. He is a hero and an inspiration to us all."

That's an understatement!

Anthony spent eight years in the military, two years in the US Army Reserve, and one year in Iraq.

Anthony's wife Kara explains how Habitat for Humanity Kentucky helped build a home together for them and their five children after Kara realized the house they lived in was unsafe.

Anthony then told Drew they'd made two mortgage payments already and were "chipping away" at the rest of it.

But Drew wasn't going to let that happen.

"Our friends at the Home Depot Foundation are dedicated to improving the homes and lives of U.S. Veterans," Drew explained, before interrupting herself.

"Oh, I have to tell you something, actually. You won't have to worry about making another mortgage payment, because as a part of the Operation Surprise campaign, the foundation is going to pay off your mortgage in full," Drew said as Andrew and Kara immediately teared up.

This is so fantastic!

"You're kidding right?" Andrew responded.

Absolutely not!

You can watch the video for yourself right here, but make sure that you have some tissues handy, because this is a real tearjerker! What a fantastic story with a happy ending!
