10+ Facts About Chris Pratt's Relationship With Ex Anna Faris

Chris Pratt is now married to Katherine Schwarzenegger. They have been married since 2019, and they had their first child together in August of this year.

However, the relationship started off with a lot of speculation and opinions from fans, given his rather messy split with ex-wife Anna Faris.

Here are 10+ facts about Pratt and Faris' relationship that you might not know.

1. They grew up in the same area of Washington.

In a strange twist of fate, these two actually grew up only about 20 minutes apart in the same area of Washington state.

At one time, Pratt even felt like this was a sign that they were meant to be together.

But, they didn't meet until they were both in Los Angeles.

While there's a high likelihood that these two passed each other on the street or at a store while growing up, they didn't actually meet until they had both moved to Los Angeles.

They met while filming the movie Take Me Home Tonight.

3. Anna Faris was married to Ben Indra at the time.

Shockingly, Pratt basically broke up their marriage without even trying.

Faris realized she had such strong chemistry with Pratt and that these feelings were lacking in her marriage.

These feelings are what caused her to call Indra up and tell him she was leaving him.

4. The duo started hanging out as friends first.

Both Faris and Pratt say they never crossed any lines and started hanging out as friends in the beginning.

Pratt clearly wasn't that worried about impressing Faris, or he just felt comfortable with her, because he admits that he didn't clean up his place and even left dirty adult magazines out.

5. Pratt gave Faris an upgraded engagement ring.

When Pratt proposed to Faris in 2008, he got her a nice ring, but they weren't big stars at the time.

So, in 2016, he got her an updated ring that was much flashier. He told PEOPLE that he got her the ring because she had gotten him a tractor.

He also wore an engagement ring himself.

After proposing and giving Faris a ring, Pratt actually got an engagement ring for himself to wear.

While this might have been rather untraditional, it does seem strange that only the woman wears an engagement ring, so this is kind of a good idea.

6. Faris preferred Pratt when he was less ripped.

While Pratt lost a lot of weight and gained muscle for his role as Star-Lord, Faris actually liked him better when he had a more average build.

Pratt told The Late Show that he missed his old body, saying, "My wife does too. She likes to cook, and I don't get to eat as much of her cooking as I used to."

7. There was a fistfight at their wedding.

Pratt and Faris had a destination wedding in Bali, and they were married on July 9, 2009.

While it sounds like it was overall a great time, Pratt told US Weekly that the wedding entailed "two families coming together, heartfelt speeches – and a pretty great fistfight on the dance floor."

8. Fans weren't impressed when Pratt tried to give away Faris' senior cat.

People got really upset when Pratt posted that Faris' cat needed a new home. The cat was old and not in the best shape, and many felt it was irresponsible and even cruel to try to re-home the pet.

Pratt defended the decision by saying the cat had to go to make room for their new baby.

9. Their son was born prematurely.

When their son, Jack, was born in August of 2012, he was 9 weeks premature and had to spend some time in the NICU for surgery and other medical treatments.

Thankfully, Jack was okay, and the only real issue he's had developmentally is that he needed to wear glasses.

10. The couple received backlash after abandoning their dog.

These two really don't have a great record when it comes to pet ownership.

After adopting a rescue dog, the chihuahua was found alone and wandering the streets of LA.

Apparently, Faris had already re-homed the dog before this happened. But, as per her agreement with the animal shelter, she was supposed to notify them if she gave the dog up, but she didn't.

11. They loved to eat meat.

While on an episode of Top Chef, Faris talked about what she and Pratt normally ate in their household.

She explained their diet as being all about "meat and potatoes, adventurous, no hummus, big game."

Clearly, they weren't eating like the typical movie star.

12. Pratt would braid her hair.

While they were still married, Pratt would actually braid Faris' hair as part of their bedtime routine.

He told InStyle that he learned how to brain from his sister as a kid and that, "I would braid Anna's hair at night ... it was a nice little ritual."

13. When Anna first visited Chris' apartment, he didn't even bother to clean up.

I'm not talking about leaving a few dirty dishes in the sink, either. Since Anna was a married woman, Chris felt he didn't need to hide who he really was from her.

So he decided to leave his porn strewn all over the apartment.

He also detailed his various sexual encounters while they were "hanging out."

According to Chris, he thought Anna was just another friend — a bro! In this sense, he felt incredibly comfortable speaking to her as a single man living in LA.

Apparently, Anna was even into it.

14. Chris and Anna both collect the same weird thing.

During one of her first visits to Chris' apartment, Anna began crying after seeing a framed African stick-bug hanging on the wall.

It turns out that she too has a penchant for collecting dead insects.

15. Anna and Chris had a designated day for sexting.

When you're two high profile celebrities with demanding work schedules, you don't always have the luxury of sleeping in the same bed with one another — or even in the same city.

That's why Anna and Chris made Wednesday their day for sex texting to keep things fresh!

But it all came crashing down after Anna made a recipient mistake.

Anna told Ellen DeGeneres that she accidentally texted her dad "can't wait to see you in bed."

Can you imagine how mortified you'd be? I'd probably never text again if it were me in Anna's position.

16. Both Anna and Chris have matching scars on their left hands.

Anna got hers when she accidentally fell onto a broken wine glass while filming Just Friends. Chris received his battle wound after a childhood kitchen accident.

You've got to admit, that's kind of spooky...

17. They love the Seattle Seahawks.

Ugh. As a fan of the Washington football team, this saddens me. But I suppose it makes sense being that Chris and Anna are from the state of Washington, not Washington D.C.

Good luck in the playoffs, Seahawks!

18. Chris and Anna are connoisseurs of whisky and cigars.

You might think it odd picturing Chris and Anna sitting on the back porch, enjoying a stogie and a dram of Texas tea, but these two are anything but ordinary.

Oh, what I wouldn't give to slam back a finger of bourbon with these two!

19. Pratt felt like their relationship was fated.

During a Reddit AMA in 2015, Chris Pratt opened up about his relationship with Faris.

He wrote: "Anna and I are meant to be together. Our relationship has made me believe in divine intervention and destiny."

Sadly, things didn't last forever between them.

20. They announced their split in 2017.

On August 6 of that year, they both posted matching social media posts announcing their split.

They expressed that they were both "disappointed" about where they had ended up, and they also asked fans for privacy.
