'Donny & Marie' Celebrates Its 45th Anniversary

There's no relationship quite like the ones that siblings have! There's nobody who annoys you more, pushes all your buttons, purposefully aggravates you, throws you under the bus, but always has your back and would go to the ends of the earth for you like a sibling, and I feel like that relationship doesn't get enough attention.

That's why we should celebrate the famous siblings we do have even more, like Donny and Marie Osmond!

Donny and Marie Osmond have been household names since they were just teenagers.

Being a part of a musical family like the Osmonds shot Donny and Marie into the spotlight, but they had each others' backs and are still just as close today as they were when they were growing up, and they still tease each other with the same attitude.

We all loved watching the two on their variety show, aptly titled *Donny & Marie*.

The show had pretty much everything — ice skating, singing, dancing, sketches, and a teen idol to crush on whether you were a little bit country or a little bit rock and roll.

It's hard to believe the show only ran for 4 years when it spawned a lifetime of success for the two.

*Donny & Marie* was definitely one of the best shows of the '70s.

At the time, Donny and Marie (18 and 16 years old respectively) were the youngest people in TV history to host their own variety show!

The show ran for 78 episodes, spawned a Donny & Marie doll set, toys, and its own magazine made by Tiger Beat, so it was a pretty big deal.

The show premiered for the first time on November 16th, 1975.

That means that this year the show is celebrating its 45th anniversary!

It's hard to believe we were all swooning over Donny, laughing with Marie, and jamming out to some fantastic music over four decades ago. Nothing makes you feel old like realizing your teenage crush is now a grandfather.

Since the show ended, the siblings went on to have their own talk show and their own Vegas residency!

Their Las Vegas residency ran for eleven years until November 16th, 2019 — 44 years to the day of the premiere of the variety show that started it all!

Isn't it just amazing when life comes full circle?

Fans of the show are remembering their favorite moments online.

Like the episode where they did a musical re-telling of Star Wars, that had Kris Kristofferson guest-starring as Han Solo himself!

They really just don't make television like this anymore. Kids these days don't know what they're missing!

In honor of the show's 45th anniversary, share your favorite moments with us!

I always loved the ice-skating intro and loved to try to recreate the moves in my living room — luckily, there's no photo or video evidence that this happened, so don't even ask.
