Sir Sean Connery Dies Aged 90

The Scottish actor, best known for his portrayal of James Bond, has died, according to BBC. The beloved actor was 90 years old.

Sean Connery was best known as being the first actor to portray James Bond in film.

He would then go on to star in seven Bond movies from 1962 through to 1983.

He was also known for other films including *The Hunt for Red October*.

As well as The Untouchables, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and The Rock.

On July 5, 2000, he was knighted by Elizabeth II at Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh.

He was nominated for a knighthood in both '97 and '98, but his political views at the time prevented this from happening by Donald Dewar.

Before he became an actor, he served his country in the Royal Navy.

He was just 16 years old when he joined, back in 1946.

Tributes to the icon have already starting pouring in across social media.

There's no doubt he'll go down in history as the greatest 007.
