10+ Movies With Sequels Fans Knew Nothing About

These days, Hollywood seems to make movie sequels more than originals, and many of these sequels, trilogies, and franchises are iconic.

However, there are some sequels that fans haven't heard of at all.

Here are 10+ next chapters to popular movies you probably knew nothing about.

*Mean Girls 2*

Mean Girls might have been a hugely successful comedy, but the sequel called Mean Girls 2 was not.

The movie was released in 2011, and while the cast was completely different, the movie had a very similar storyline, making it very underwhelming.

*Grease 2*

The original Grease from 1978 is one of the most legendary movie musicals ever, but the sequel, Grease 2, was not.

Released in 1982, this installment was set two years after the original and featured a new cast but a similar setup.

*Exorcist II: The Heretic*

The original film was made in 1973, and the sequel Exorcist II: The Heretic was released in 1997.

This film was generally considered to be horrible and had bad ratings all around. It was definitely a sequel that didn't need to be made.

*Home Alone 2*

You've probably heard of or watched Home Alone 2, but there were actually two more sequels made that were way less popular.

The third and fourth installments had a different lead actor instead of Macaulay Culkin, making them a flop.

*The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea*

The sequel film was titled The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea and released in 2000.

The plot followed Ariel and Eric's daughter Melody as she sought to become a mermaid, and it was overall a pale copy of the original.

*Marley and Me: The Puppy Years*

Marley and Me starred Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson and was a heart-wrenching movie about what it's like to have a dog.

However, the sequel, which was actually a prequel, called Marley and Me: The Puppy Years lacked the charm of the first.

*Cinderella II: Dreams Come True*

There was a time in the early 2000s' when Disney made many sequels that hardly anyone heard of or even watched.

The sequel to Cinderella was called Cinderella II: Dreams Come True and was released in 2002. There was even a third installment released in 2007!

*Mei and the Kittenbus*

My Neightbor Totoro is an animated classic and cult favorite, but most people don't know there was a short sequel called Mei and the Kittenbus.

While the sequel was made by Hayao Miyazaki, it's nearly impossible to watch unless you can go to the Ghibli Museum in Japan.

*The Rage: Carrie 2*

Carrie is a horror film that has made a major impact on the genre and on our collective understanding of pop culture, so it didn't really even need a sequel.

However, there was a second installment made in 1999 called The Rage: Carrie 2. Needless to say, it wasn't great.

*Jaws*

Jaws is a film that changed pop culture in many ways, and it will always be influential.

However, the multiple sequels just weren't nearly as good. There was Jaws 2 in 1978 followed by Jaws 3-D in 1983. Then, they even made a fourth film called Jaws: The Revenge in 1987.

*Aladdin and the King of Thieves*

Aladdin actually had two sequels. The first, Return of Jafar, came out in 1994 and the third installment, Aladdin and the King of Thieves released in 1996.

Most people don't remember either of these films even though the third movie of the trilogy showed Jasmine and Aladdin's wedding.

*The Next Karate Kid*

The original movie is a staple of '80s cinema and pop culture, but the sequel, The Next Karate Kid definitely didn't make as much of an impact.

The film actually stars Hillary Swank, but it just wasn't as well-known or well-loved by fans.

*Legally Blonde 2*

The sequel to Legally Blonde was given the not-so-creative name of Legally Blonde 2.

This film actually did star Reese Witherspoon as Elle Woods, but even this star power wasn't enough to help the movie compare to the original.

*American Psycho II: All American Girl*

American Psycho might have a place in the pop culture lexicon, but most people haven't even heard of the sequel, American Psycho II: All American Girl.

The film actually starred Mila Kunis, but even this casting choice couldn't save the movie.

*A Christmas Story 2: My Summer Story*

A Christmas Story might be a well-loved holiday film, but most people don't know there was a sequel titled, A Christmas Story 2: My Summer Story.

Given that the original cast was too old when the sequel filmed in 1994, it's no wonder fans had no interest in this installment.
