Shop Owner Under 'Constant Observation' After Installing Glass Ceiling For Cats

Although larger retailers can often have a more expansive selection, there's something about the personal charm of an independent shop. What they lack in breadth, they usually make up for in depth and there's a character those stores have that larger chains can sometimes imitate but never really get right.

For instance, my dad used to take me to a local record store that specialized in classical music when I was a kid. Although this wasn't the music I was interested in, that didn't really matter because the owner always had his incredibly friendly bulldog Rochester in the store with him.

And while one store owner in Taiwan has made his pets a similar selling point, he's taken it a step further to consequences even he may not have expected.

Last week, Taiwanese Twitter user @SCMcrocodile decided to show off some new modifications their friend made to his shop.

As we can see, it's a cozy place that nonetheless has a little attic space for his cats to play around in.

And of course, the reason that we can see that is that the owner replaced a couple of his celing tiles with glass.

According to Bored Panda, @SCMcrocodile said their friend had done this to accommodate his cats, presumably meaning that he wanted them to have something more stimulating than a floor to look at.

And if that's what he was trying to do, it seems that he's succeeded based on these photos.

Ever since he put the glass in, @SCMcrocodile said the owner has been under "constant observation" by his curious kitties.

Apparently, they stare at him like this all the time.

Since hitting Twitter on October 23rd, @SCMcrocodile's tweet has since amassed about 184,000 likes and about 70,000 retweets.

Most of the replies aren't in English but it seems that one of them can be translated as, "It's the best! I want to be monitored by a cat."

Indeed, that seems to be a pretty typical response as folks throughout the world are finding this arrangement pretty adorable.

A few minutes after their initial post, @SCMcrocodile returned and showed everyone what happens when the cats aren't fed on time.

As we can see, they step down from their observation deck and come down the stairs wondering what the holdup is all about.

Not only did this provide more cat content for the shop's new fans but it also confirms that there were three cats up there all along.

Moreover, it seems to confirm that the cats are perfectly happy looking at everyone who passes through the store from the attic because the second they're not, they come on down to lodge a complaint with the owner.

I'm guessing that's more welcome than when other customers do it, though.
