Kristen Bell Breaks Her Silence On Dax Shepard's Relapse After 16 Years Of Sobriety

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are one of the world's favorite Hollywood couples, and while a big reason for that is due to the fact that both are hilarious and talented, another huge reason is that the two of them are always willing to be open and honest about their lives, both the good and the more controversial.

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have been very transparent about Dax's sobriety journey.

Early in September, Kristen shared a letter their daughter had written in honor of Dax's 16th anniversary of sobriety, writing, "Today is my husband's 16th sobriety birthday. My daughter woke him up with this sign," alongside the picture.

On an emotional episode of his podcast, Dax revealed that after 16 years of sobriety, he had relapsed after being prescribed painkillers.

"For the last eight weeks, maybe, I'm on them all day. And I'm allowed to be on them at some dosage because I have a prescription, but I'm also augmenting that," Dax revealed. "And then the prescription runs out and I'm now just taking oxys that I bought whenever I decide I can do."

Kristen Bell has broken her silence on the situation in a new interview.

"Everybody is up against their own demons. Sometimes it's anxiety and depression. Sometimes it's substance abuse," Kristen told Ellen DeGeneres.

"The thing I love most about Dax is that he was able to tell me and tell us and say, 'We need a different plan.' We have a plan: if he has to take medication for any reason, I have to administer it. But he was like, 'We need a stronger plan,'" Kristen revealed.

Kristen said that Dax told her he was "faltering."

"He was like, 'I don't want to risk this family and I did, so let's put new things in place to make sure it doesn't happen again,'" Kristen said.

We love that Dax has such a strong supporter in Kristen, and we wish them nothing but health and happiness going forward!
