11+ Times Homeowners Made Unexpected Finds After Moving In

Buying a house or an apartment is definitely a huge life decision. So many details need to be worked out in advance and inspections are always a good idea.

But even if you do your due diligence, you never know what surprises can await you once you step foot in the door. Sometimes those surprises turn out to be great and other times...not so much.

1. This Nature's Bounty

This person moved here from the desert a few years ago. It turns out they bought a house with a bunch of milkweeds and had no idea they were so important for monarch butterflies. It was their first time raising them from eggs!

2. This Strange Discovery

This person just bought a house and they couldn't figure out why the central vacuum system wasn't working. I guess they found what the culprit was after all. Is that hair? And if not, then what in the heck is it?

3. This Cool Find

What would you think if you bought a house that came with a surprise Junimo Hut? I dunno what one is but if it looks as cool as this I wouldn't mind it at all, ha, ha!

4. This Old-School Gem

This person bought a house with a Frigidaire Custom Imperial oven/stove by General Motors. This thing runs better than most new cars nowadays. Wow, sometimes an oldie is also a goodie. It sounds like that's the case here.

5. This Leap Of Luxury

Sometimes it really does pay off to buy your house at an estate sale. These folks did and they ended up getting these amazing shiny furniture pieces, too. I dunno what this is exactly but it looks stunning to me.

Wouldn't it be cool if the previous owner of the house you bought left a safe behind? Now, how do you open it is the question I would like to ask. And then, what's inside of it? Hee, hee!

7. This Well

I find old houses so interesting. You honestly never know what cool features you can find in them. Take this place, for example. It actually has an old well as a focal point in the kitchen. Isn't that so neat?

8. This Beautiful Resident

Honestly, if I bought a new house and found this gorgeous owl inside of it, I would just stare at it all day. I'm so fascinated by owls so finding this beautiful creature would make my day.

9. This Street Light

Somebody bought a house in German Village several months ago and this street light from 1927 was still on the property. It must have been converted to electricity at some point. I think it's kind of neat.

10. This Treasure Trove

Oh my goodness, get a load of all of this. It looks to me like this person found a treasure trove in their new house's bathroom. That looks exactly like my engagement ring. Isn't it beautiful?

11. This Book Lover's Dream

These folks recently bought a house and the previous owners left them a ton of book collections. Wow, that's absolutely amazing, isn't it? I can't believe they left all these awesome books just like that.

12. This Cool Reno

How do you make something out of what the previous owners left behind? Well, these people found flowerbeds full of mulch and a bunch of unused pavers, so they covered up the side of their house that was all dirt and always muddy. Nice!

13. This Furry Friend

This lady who is a realtor did a showing of a house and realized there was someone waiting at the door. Turns out this kitty's owner passed away and she had nowhere to go. So naturally, the realtor took her home. Aww, that's so sweet.

14. This Golf Surprise

This person recently bought a house on a golf course and these are all the balls that had landed on their property just in the last month. Yikes, good luck putting up with all that, ha, ha!

15. This Tap Situation

It's really important to thoroughly inspect everything before you buy a house. This person did but they forgot to check the taps. After they bought the place they realized all their taps work like this. OMG!

16. This Powerful Appliance

Sometimes when you buy an old house you also inherit all the gems it contains. In this case, the person who bought this home also got this bad boy. It's a 1936 Chambers 11-A-22 and it still works too.

17. This Creepy Find

How would you feel if you got your new house and found out that the previous owners left this behind the basement bathroom curtain? I think this is the definition of WTF?! I would be very creeped out.

18. This Bad Boy

This person's friend bought a house with this KitchenAid dishwasher from 1974. He says it works better than any of the other ones he has owned. He just has to convince his wife not to replace it. Good luck, ha, ha!

19. This Convenient Window

So, apparently, the previous owners of this house had cut out a hole for their cats to use in the door. The new owners don't have any cats but their dog, Bernard, makes use of it every day. Aww, so cute!

20. This Hidden Safe

Here is another one of those instances where somebody found a safe in their newly acquired house. Now they need to find out how to open it. I want to know what's inside of it so badly.

21. This Secret Dungeon

This person just moved into a new apartment and made a big discovery. There is a door in the floor that leads to a secret dungeon. There is a proper 19th-century layout of corridors and hatches beneath. Yikes!

22. This Patch-Up Job

This is what happens when you discover the previous owner was definitely not a carpenter. Why use screws or nails to affix wood to a wall when you can use construction glue? Hmm, I have no idea, lol.

Aww, I wish I were able to buy a house right now so I could look through all the nooks and crannies for hidden treasure, ha, ha!

Wouldn't that be so awesome? If anything, it would be fun to do a treasure hunt anyway.
