Paramount Pictures

It was the role that made her a star, but this was too much for her.

4. She was a cheerleader:

Morgan Creek Production

She starred in The Crush as a young girl who developed a fatal attraction on a much older man.

Her performance in Aerosmith's "Crazy" music video is even what landed her the role of Cher in Clueless!

"Her performance in the video — I believed everything. I just went crazy for her," the director told Interview Magazine.

"So when I handed the script in, by that time the 'Crazy' video was out and I videotaped it."

They originally thought that she meant Liv Tyler, Steven's daughter.

"Meanwhile my friend, the casting director, was saying 'You've got to see the girl in 'The Crush.' Well, it's the same girl."

9. She was extremely sick while filming *Clueless*:

Paramount Pictures

She told The Guardian that she constantly had ulcers, which made eating certain foods difficult.

She would ask her driver to get her frozen yogurt, since it was all she could eat.

This was so she could work as an actress without age limitations.

When she was filming The Crush — her first role — she even lived in an apartment in Vancouver by herself at 15.

She told *The Guardian* that growing up so fast had its ups and downs.

“But I also jumped light years ahead in other ways. It’s sort of a combo platter. You gain some and you lose some.”

11. She has one major regret from *Clueless*:

This is a big one... She was given Cher's wardrobe and then GAVE IT ALL AWAY.

The reason for the insanity? She told Entertainment Weekly that she didn't "get fashion" at the time.

"At that time of my life, I wore jeans and a green t-shirt every single day and that was it," she said.

"And I just didn’t get it until I saw the movie and I was like, “Oh I get it! The costumes are the star of the movie!”

She played Batgirl in the film.

At the time, the tabloids called her "Fatgirl" and paparazzi would even chant it as they chased her for photos.

"It was really just extreme how I was being talked to and talked about," she told *The Guardian*.

This level of body-shaming caused the actress to resent acting.

“I stopped loving acting for a very long time." Thankfully, a role in a David Mamet play turned that around.

13. She's a single mother:

She split with her husband of two decades, Christopher Jarecki, in 2018.

The transition hasn't always been easy.

"You don't ever think you'll be apart when you get married. All I can really say is that we'll co-parent Bear together, and this is completely a good thing for both of us," she told Redbook Magazine.

14. She had a lot of freedom in *Clueless*:

And while she admitted that it was scary because she was so young, she also knows that it meant that the director of the film trusted her.

So really, it all worked out for the best.

15. She told *Vogue* that she grew up around people who were extremely materialistic, reminding her of Cher:

Varient

"There were some girls in my life who were extremely materialistic. I grew up with a mom who was so practical and absolutely loathed extravagance. She had a real distaste for materialism and all that came with that kind of behavior, so I would notice that quality in people I grew up with."

"I can think of some specific girls in my life who were really mean and materialistic. Just really [expletive] girls. I wasn't trying to be like them because I didn't think Cher was like that, but there were moments where Cher could be that when she’d walk through the hallways judging everybody."

"Like when she takes Tai around the school pointing out the different social circles."

16. She had a lot of fun playing her character in *Bad Therapy*:
