Adele's Latest Instagram Pic Has Fans Rolling In The Cringe

Now look, I love Adele. Who doesn't love Adele? She is smart and talented and was unproblematic — until now!!!

Adele has literally never come under fire for a decision she's made until she posted a very controversial Instagram pic in honor of the canceled Notting Hill Carnival.

Needless to say, the fans are shocked and confused and the jokes just keeeeep rolling in.

Adele is best known for writing and performing amazing music that fans cannot get enough of.

Where would modern music be without the creative brilliance that was "Rolling in the Deep" or "Hello"?? I don't even want to think about it, TBH!

Recently, Adele has also been making headlines after undergoing a dramatic physical transformation.

She looks healthy and happy, and that's all fans ever want for their beloved songstress!

When Adele posted this stunning pic of herself earlier this summer, fans were *literally* obsessed!

While paying tribute to Beyoncé and the musical genius that is "Black Is King," Adele totally left fans speechless with her goddess-like wavy hair and makeup-free face!

However, Adele is making headlines right now for alllll the wrong reasons.

Posting a throwback pic from the 2019 Notting Hill Carnival in London, the 32-year-old is seen sporting a Jamaican flag bikini top and Bantu knots in her hair.

For those who don't know, the Notting Hill Carnival is an annual celebration of Caribbean culture and interracial tolerance.

The first Notting Hill Carnival took place in 1966 and has been a cultural institution ever since, and one Adele certainly seems to be fond of.

The reactions to Adele's pic on social media have been mixed, to say the least.

Fans and friends alike are weighing in on the pic and so far, Adele's famous friends are LOVING THE LEWK!

"You just broke the internet Henny," commented Lisa Rinna.

"You look right at home guurrrl," agreed Zoe Saldana.

However, not everyone is feeling all warm and fuzzy. Instagram user @shawnxthorne commented, "We can agree to disagree on whether this was cultural appropriation (personally I think it is) But MORE IMPORTANTLY, she could have used this an an opportunity to highlight actual Black Jamaican people and Jamaican beauty!:

"Not her own. This was a self absorbed and tone deaf move."

"This is unacceptable," agreed Instagram user @_allie_.

"Why are you normalizing cultural appropriation on such a massive platform? So disappointed to see this, especially with everything that’s going on. I strongly advise you to educate yourself and check your white privilege. And to clarify what I’m referring to, it’s the appropriation of a hairstyle which does not belong to white people. It is not yours to wear."

However, in addition to the criticism, the positive feedback for Adele on social media has been overwhelming.

"Caribbean people are the most unproblematic and woke people of them all. Secure in their rich culture and aren’t threatened by anyone who wants to simply show their love for it. Amazing people. Let’s all take a leaf out of their book shall we," commented Instagram user @jessy_slavinka.

"I love it. As an ACTUAL Jamaican from the ACTUAL Caribbean, I love it! [It's] an appreciation of our culture. For everyone that has an issue with it, just know, we Caribbean people are cool with it. So y'all can calm down and leave her alone," agreed Insta user @natt_abii.

"Isn’t it funny that true Jamaicans are cheering her on, while the ones who aren’t even from Jamaica are tearing her down," echoed @anna.noonann.

It's clear the people are divided, and since Adele has yet to comment on the backlash, we may never know what she really thinks about it!

What do you think of Adele's pic? Cultural appropriation or cultural appreciation?
