Driver Crashes Into Pole After Noticing There's A Spider In His Car

A UK motorist recently crashed his vehicle into a pole in the middle of the street after experiencing what can only be assumed to have been a serious case of the heebie-jeebies.

A Facebook post from the Isle of Wight Police Department is warning other drivers to keep their eyes on the road after the man plowed into the pole while trying to evict a spider from inside his car.

Yes, this nasty-looking crash was all thanks to an eight-legged passenger in the vehicle.

The driver was traveling down the road when he noticed there was a rather unwelcome spider hitching a ride with him.

Naturally, as anyone else might do, the man attempted to get rid of the creepy-crawly, though didn't think to perhaps pull over beforehand.

While he was trying to remove the spider, he took his eyes off the road and didn't see he was heading straight for a light post.

Fortunately, the man behind the wheel is reported to have walked away with only minor injuries.

No word yet on the state of the spider.

Isle of Wight police shared photos of the smashed-up car and details surrounding the crash on Facebook.

"Our ARV/colleagues have had a busy afternoon," the post reads. "They currently are dealing with this vehicle on Kite Hill in Wootton so please bear this in mind when you are passing through this way as the traffic might be slightly slower moving until this vehicle is recovered.

"This driver was trying to remove a spider from his vehicle at the time of this incident."

In an effort to avoid further and potentially worse spider-related crashes, the department also issued a safety warning.

"We are glad to say the driver only has minor injuries from this incident," they wrote, "but as always please keep your eyes on the road as there are lots of distractions around at this time of year."

Hopefully the driver has learned his lesson and now knows that he should definitely pull over before trying to get rid of spiders, or any unwanted pest for that matter, from his vehicle.
