Portia De Rossi Speaks Out Amid Wife Ellen DeGeneres' Show Scandal

Amid Ellen Degeneres' latest scandal surrounding her television show, it's hard to keep track of which celebrities are standing up for her and which celebrities are agreeing with critics about her behavior and attitude. But it should come as no surprise which side Ellen's wife of 12 years, Portia De Rossi, has come out on.

There have been many rumors about Ellen having an attitude or treating her employees unfairly.

Recently, those rumors have become accusations, including when some employees claimed they were fired after taking medical leave or bereavement days, while others said they were told not to speak to Ellen if she was around the office. These are just some of the accusations featured in a Buzzfeed article.

"My name is on the show and everything we do and I take responsibility for that," Ellen responded to her employees in a statement.

"We all have to be more mindful about the way our words and actions affect others, and I'm glad the issues at our show were brought to my attention," Ellen wrote in an emotional letter. "I promise to do my part in continuing to push myself and everyone around me to learn and grow."

"It's important to me and to Warner Bros. that everyone who has something to say can speak up and feels safe doing so."

"I am so proud of the work we do and the fun and joy we all help put out in the world," she wrote. "I want everyone at home to love our show and I want everyone who makes it to love working on it. Again, I’m so sorry to anyone who didn’t have that experience."

"If not for COVID, I’d have done this in person, and I can’t wait to be back on our stage and see you all then."

However, there have been some accusations from those who don't believe that Ellen's apology is very sincere.

Everybody Loves Raymond's Brad Garrett tweeted, "Sorry but it comes from the top ⁦@TheEllenShow. Know more than one who were treated horribly by her.⁩ Common knowledge," in response to her apology.

Her former DJ, Tony Okungbowa, also spoke out against the toxicity of the work environment.

"While I am grateful for the opportunity it afforded me, I did experience and feel the toxicity of the environment and I stand with my former colleagues in their quest to create a healthier and more inclusive workplace as the show moves forward," he wrote of his time on the show.

Ellen's wife, actress Portia De Rossi, has now spoken out for the first time about these accusations.

Ellen and Portia have been married since August of 2008, and it appears the couple is remaining a united front even in the face of this controversy.

Portia shared an image to her Instagram page that read, "I Stand By Ellen," on Ellen's signature blue background.

Portia's caption for the image thanked fans for their support.
