However, while she may have been born there, her parents are not from there. They come from the land down under: Australia.

“I am very shy – really shy – I even had a stutter as a kid, which I slowly got over, but I still regress into that shyness. So I don’t like walking into a crowded restaurant by myself; I don’t like going to a party by myself," she said to Stuttering Help.

3. She can sing.

If you've ever seen the movie Moulin Rouge, then you already know that Nicole has a surprising and impressive set of pipes on her!

So, if she ever wanted to take after her husband and pursue music instead of acting, she would have a very good chance of succeeding.

Although she sings beautifully, she has mentioned before that due to her shy nature, singing and performing isn't something that comes easily to her.

"Moulin Rouge was really hard for me because singing is not something that comes naturally to me. It is so frightening to have to sing in front of people. I get terrified," she said on The Graham Norton Show.

4. She also revealed on *The Graham Norton Show* that she got her waistline down to 18 inches for *Moulin Rouge*.

Speaking of Moulin Rouge, back in 2014, Nicole revealed that she actually broke a rib trying to squeeze into her corset for the film.

Ultimately, she was able to get her waist down to 18 inches.

"I then re-broke my rib getting into a corset," she said.

12. Kidman's producing partner, Per Saari, told *Vanity Fair* that she is very good with numbers.

“She’s as analytical as she is creative. She’s able to sit down and look at a budget and work that as magically as she’s able to sit down with a script and arc a character. Her superpower is her brain. And she never forgets anything, I’ve never seen anything like it.”

13. She has opened up in the past about her miscarriages.

She described it as "a huge, aching yearning [to have babies]. And the loss! The loss of a miscarriage is not talked about enough. That’s massive grief to certain women," she told You.

She greatly believes in the importance of being open about it.

She believes that being open about it will allow people to not feel shame.

"So that then they’re not full of shame. I do believe we help carve paths that bring us together and you go, 'Oh, OK, you’re going through this, too. There is hope.'"

14. She tries to draw on her own personal experiences when it comes to her roles.

"I try to bring that well of experience I have in terms of things that have happened to me," Kidman said to GQ. "Am I willing to give them to the world? Am I willing to give them to a director?"

"Am I going to actually get hurt or is it going to cause me an enormous amount of duress?"

Instagram | @nicolekidman

"But that’s the artistic path. So I really try to be unbelievably raw and available and shed all these layers until I’m almost skinless. But then I go and take care of myself afterwards."

15. She feels blessed for having been raised by such a good father.

In fact, when she had to speak at his funeral, she was unable to do so because she was so overwhelmed with her sadness.

"I was raised by a man who would get on a plane at midnight if I called him to come and help me," she told GQ.

16. She told *GQ* that she feels similarly about Keith Urban.

"And I’m married to a man who is just the greatest partner in life. He’s given me confidence. He’ll sit on the phone and talk to me. He’ll watch episodes [of BLL] and build my esteem."

"I take none of that for granted. It’s an incredible balm to have. I’m a very sensitive woman, so I bring all that to the equation too. I’ve definitely run the gamut in terms of emotions."

"But I’m devoted and loving and I have the capacity to love deeply, so I don’t want to get hurt. That was my opening line on one of our early dates: ‘Just be careful with me. Because when I love, I love from the deepest place.’ As a man, that either makes you run a mile or say, ‘OK, I’m going to step up.’”

17. She takes religion seriously.

“A lot of my friends tease me. That’s how we are raising our children. Keith has his own beliefs but he comes, too. I had a very Catholic grandmother, and I was raised praying, so that had massive impact," she told Vanity Fair.

“I wouldn’t say it’s absolutism, there’s constant questioning—I’m a wilful, feisty girl. For me, it’s very important that I don’t have judgment. My dad would always say, ‘Tolerance is the most important thing.’”

No judgment is the only way to make it work!

18. She told *Allure* that she has very weird taste.

She says that she is "left-handed and very lateral," and, judging from the whole interview, she sounds like a very intriguing human being.

Am I the only one completely desperate to meet this woman?

Instagram | @nicolekidman

There are quite a few celebrity parents who believe in keeping technology from their children to keep them safe!

“I try to keep some sort of boundaries,” she told Vanity Fair.

20. Like a true Australian, she loves being in the water.

About herself and Keith, she told Allure:

"We’re Australian, both of us, so water is very therapeutic. We have a beach house, and we will get up in the morning before we have breakfast, and we’ll go in the ocean."

"Reese [Witherspoon] is our next-door neighbor. Reese will be going, 'What are you doing in the water, you lovebirds?' She’ll tease us because she rarely goes in the ocean. 'You crazy Australian kids.'"

I mean, if Kidman ever needs a swimming buddy, I am definitely there!
