Ryan Reynolds Is 'Devastated' Over Hugh Jackman's Award Nomination

As you may already know, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds have a long, hilarious history of trolling each other online.

It is literally the entire basis of their friendship (and the only reason I have Twitter).

In keeping with the theme of their friendship, Hugh recently joked that Ryan is "devastated" over his award nomination for his television show.

If you follow Ryan Reynolds or Hugh Jackman on Twitter or Instagram, then you're probably well-aware of their ongoing shenanigans.

They have a long, hilarious record of trolling each other and tbh, it's the only online content I care about.

Before we get into their latest, let's look back on some of their best moments, shall we?

Like the time Ryan made a fake campaign ad last year when Hugh Jackman was starring in Frontrunner.

This looks like it actually required a significant amount of effort. But it was 100% worth it.

Or the time he trolled Hugh for posting this photo on Twitter of himself posing with Wolverine fans in Beijing.

He joked that those people aren't actually fans, they're picketers, protesting against Hugh's film.

Or the time he posted this photo of Hugh after he received the Order of Australia, on Instagram with an absolutely savage caption:

"Receiving the Order of Australia is a HUGE deal," he began.

"And despite what I tell anyone who’ll listen, Hugh Jackman is one of the finest, kindest, hardest working, generous and most talented people I’ve had the privilege to call my friend. There’s nobody better. None of this changes the unfortunate fact he’s a complete bastard."

Or the time he made a birthday video for Hugh on his 51st.

"Hello Hugh," he starts off. I was just, uh, I was just going to wish you a happy birthday. Then I saw what you said."

(Side note: Ryan is referring to how Hugh teased him at one of his shows).

After singing "Happy Birthday" (terribly), he says:

"I'm not even [expletive] professionally trained, Jackman," he shouted. "You piece of [expletive], [expletive]."

Ryan also trolled Hugh on his most recent wedding anniversary!

It all started with a tweet from AdWeek praising Ryan's advertisements for his Gin company, Aviation.

“Learn how the brand and owner @VancityReynolds turn consumers into devotees and keep us all smiling, even in tough times,” the tweet read.

“Learn how owner @VancityReynolds does it. Really? It’s perhaps the worst kept secret ever! A simple formula," Hugh replied to the tweet.

"If you will. 2+ KCups of @laughingmanco in any given 24 hour period. 😇 You’re welcome. #allbehappy," he added.

“Well that’s just about the most insane thing I’ve ever heard," Ryan replied to Hugh's comment, in a video, wearing Laughing Man merchandise.

"Well, that's just about the most insane thing I've ever heard," he says in the video, sipping out of his Laughing Man mug.

Shortly after their brief Twitter feud, Hugh posted a throwback photo of him and his wife, to celebrate their anniversary.

"These 24 years have been the best of my life! And, as far as I can see, we keep getting better. I love you Debs with every fiber of my soul. Happy anniversary. #24," he captioned the photo.

And of course, Ryan saw the perfect opportunity to chime in to make everything worse (in the best possible way).

"Hang in there, Deb," he hilariously commented.

If Deb ever wants out, I'll step in for her.

Anyway, it was only a matter of time before they trolled each other again...

In a recent interview with E! News, Hugh revealed that Ryan's wife, Blake Lively, had texted him jokingly claiming that Ryan was "devastated" over Hugh's Emmy award nomination.

“Lots of texts from everyone I know, nothing from Ryan,” Hugh said.

“But Blake… Hang on, I’m just reading it now. ‘He’s devastated. He says he’s not getting out of bed for three days. This is the greatest gift you’ve ever given me.'”

“That’s all I got from Blake,” he added, explaining that he may be "open" to hearing an apology from Ryan.

After which, Ryan recorded a video of himself congratulating Hugh, jokingly insinuating that he didn't actually deserve it.

Hugh posted Ryan's video on Instagram, with a caption suggesting that Ryan is simply jealous of his latest achievement.

"Careful Bub ... you’re looking a bit green. (Thank you Television Academy for making this moment possible!) #emmynominee," he captioned the post.

What do you think of Ryan Reynolds' and Hugh Jackman's most recent online antics?
