Fans Believe Joe Jonas And Sophie Turner's Baby Name Is Connected To 'Game Of Thrones'

In case you missed it, TMZ reported on July 27th that Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner welcomed their first child last week — a baby girl named Willa.

This is especially exciting for Game of Thrones fans. Not only because our beloved Sansa Stark is officially a mom, but because her daughter's name is also connected to the show!

It feels like just yesterday that every single headline was about Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas expecting a child.

But TMZ reported that on July 22nd, the pair finally welcomed their baby girl, Willa.

Where does the time go?

The couple met back in 2016 after Joe slid into Sophie's Instagram DMs (as one does nowadays).

HBO

"We had a lot of mutual friends and they'd been trying to introduce us for a long time," Sophie told Harper's Bazaar.

"We were following each other on Instagram and he direct messaged me one fine day, out of the blue," she added.

After a few weeks of exchanging messages, the pair met up in real life in London.

"[We] were all in," Joe said in 2019. "We knew it was something unique."

"I expected him to show up with security and everything. I thought, 'He's gonna be such a [expletive]," Sophie revealed.

Oh, young love. How I adore it.

"I brought all my guy friends to come with me to meet him," she went on. Which, btw for the ladies, is always a smart thing to do.

"Because in the back of my mind I still worried that he could be a catfish — or I don't know what".

"I just wanted my guy friends with me. I had my rugby boys. I was safe."

But ultimately, Joe wasn't a catfish, and they hit it off right away.

She explained that they went to a "local [expletive] bar, dirty, with great music and people throwing up everywhere" and they chatted "for hours."

After a year of dating, it was clear that both Joe and Sophie were smitten!

"I'm happier than I've been in a very long time," Sophie said at the time.

"I very much isolated myself for a while and forgot what was fun. Going out with friends, going out to eat, not really having a care. And people I've met recently in my life have drawn me out of that. It really helps you own those insecurities. The things I tortured myself about before, I can forget about."

In October 2017, the pair announced their engagement on Instagram, with a photo of Sophie's shiny new rock.

"I said yes," she wrote.

"There's this weird misconception that being married is the greatest thing that'll ever happen to you," she said in an interview in 2018.

"It's lovely to be engaged. Not like I achieved anything, but I found my person, like I'd find a house that I love and want to stay in forever," she added.

"There's a sense of peace that comes with finding your person."

On May 1st 2019 the couple tied the knot in Las Vegas after the Billboard Music Awards.

An Elvis impersonator was there which tells you basically everything you need to know about the ceremony.

It was hilarious.

But the pair had a more elegant and official wedding ceremony in France in June 2019, and by February 2020 it was confirmed that they were pregnant.

Which brings us to now! On Monday, it was reported that the couple welcomed their daughter, Willa.

"Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are delighted to announce the birth of their baby," a source told Insider.

While fans are obviously overjoyed for the new parents, they can't help but feel even more excited about their daughter's name, because it is seemingly connected to *Game of Thrones*.

In Season 8, the show introduced a character named Willa, a servant who works at Winterfell, House of Stark.

There's also another character named Wylla Manderly who appears in A Dance with Dragons — but hers is spelt differently.

Either way, it seems far too coincidental that Sophie, a GoT alum, named her daughter Willa — the name of not one, but two characters from the show.

Neither Sophie or Joe have confirmed the meaning behind their daughter's name. But fans quickly jumped to the conclusion that it must have something to do with *GoT*.

The couple are clearly far too busy with their newborn to pay any mind to the chatter.

A source revealed to Entertainment Tonight that they are "obsessed" with their baby girl, and "[They] can't stop gloating about their new addition."

Do you think that Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas named their daughter after a *Game of Thrones* character? Or is it simply a coincidence?
