Quotes For People With Their Own Definition Of 'Self Care'

At the risk of publicly exposing myself as an alcohol enthusiast, I must say that I have found through extensive research that the most sure-fire cure for a no-good, rotten day is a tall glass of the good stuff.

What's "the good stuff", you ask? Why, it's anything you want it to be. Wine, beer, a perfectly mixed drink with just the right amount of vodka to make your limbs warm and your toes tingle — whatever suits your mood, sis!

Okay, let me just say that I am in no way condoning numbing yourself with alcohol, because that's a slippery slope you don't wanna tumble down.

No, no. What I'm talking about here is enjoying a responsible drink when life gets you a little down and you're of legal drinking age to bring yourself back up again with a tasty beverage.

Let's not get that mixed up going forward, okay?

Personally, I think I've figured out the perfect drink to help put me in a better mood when life gets me feeling a little blue.

I'm not going to reveal it here, because I'd like to think of it as one of those "family secrets" I'll one day pass down to my children and grandchildren. When they're legally able to buy the ingredients themselves, of course.

But for now just trust me that it really and truly hits the spot.

I should also say that I'm not the kind of person who drinks every day.

I've reached a point in my life where neither my stomach nor my wallet can really keep up with that lifestyle.

Instead, I like to save my drinking for those really special occasions, like when I'm toasting my best friend's engagement or when someone made my day a living hell. You know, those kinds of moments.

And yeah, maybe every so often I need an extra glass to really help me wind down after a particularly long day.

And maybe sometimes that glass pairs perfectly with a hot, bubbly bath, some candles, and the Mamma Mia soundtrack.

That's just my process.
