The world was shocked and devastated to learn about the tragic death of Glee star Naya Rivera, who starred on the sitcom as Santana Lopez the entire series run. Friends and former co-stars of Naya have spoken out about the loss on social media in emotional tributes.
Naya's family have released their first statement since Naya was reported missing, breaking their silence on this tragic situation.
On July 13th, the authorities confirmed that they had found Naya's body in the lake after five days of searching.
Naya is survived by her son, Josey, her sister, Nickayla, her brother, Mychal, her mother, Yolanda, and her father, George.
"We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers for Naya, Josey and our family over the past week. While we grieve the loss of our beautiful legend, we are blessed to honor her everlasting legacy and magnetic spirit," the statement reads.
"Thank you to the men and women of the Ventura, Tulare, and San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Departments for your commitment and unwavering effort to find Naya. We extend endless gratitude and ovation to the heroine who found her. Thank you to her friends, colleagues, and fans for your continuous support," they wrote.
"We kindly request that our privacy be respected during this very difficult time."
