John Legend Opens Up About Cheating History Before Chrissy Teigen Changed His Life

In an interview on Dax Shepard's podcast, Armchair Expert, singer-songwriter, John Legend, opened up — revealing that before he met his now-wife, model and author, Chrissy Teigen, he had a history of cheating that he's not proud of.

But since marrying her, cheating is out of the question!

And thank goodness for that, because they are easily one of the best celebrity couples out there right now!

In a recent interview on Dax Shepard's podcast, *Armchair* expert, he questioned John Legend about songs he's written about cheating in his past relationships.

Ultimately, revealing that John isn't as innocent as you might think!

I know, shocking.

"I have a horrendous history of cheating. [Expletive] deplorable... And there's all these great cheating songs on your albums, and I was like, 'I see another fisherman at sea,'" Dax said.

He asked John if those songs were based on his real-life experiences in past relationships.

"Yes, I did have a history of [cheating]," John admitted.

He explained that when he was much younger, he had a more difficult time getting women to date him, so once it became easier, he took full advantage of that.

He got very candid in what he did back in the day. "Definitely in my 20's," he said.

"I think what happened for me, you go through a lot of your life in your teens and I was younger than everybody in high school and college".

"And so I just didn't get a lot of girls," he went on. "When I started to get that attention, I loved it."

He explained that he would get avoid technically cheating on women he was dating by not defining the relationship or putting any sort of label on it.

"I escaped 'technically cheating' by keeping my relationship ill-defined," he said, before admitting that it was cheating nonetheless.

"But it was really cheating. I definitely was dishonest and selfish."

But as you can expect, this is a story that thankfully ended happily.

He revealed that that was before he even became famous!

"It was happening before I was famous," he said.

Once becoming famous, things escalated even more because he was receiving so much more attention from women (as it does).

He said that he "took advantage of that, at that time."

But then, his cheating ways came to a halt when he met his current wife, Chrissy Teigen.

He admitted that meeting her was a game-changer. Which, if you ask me, is one of the sweetest things ever.

Chrissy and John tied the knot in 2013 and have since had two children, Luna Stephens, 4, and Miles Stephens, 2.

John explained that he reached a point in his life where he felt like a happier person when he was being honest and loyal to the person he loves.

"At a certain point, you just realize you're happier being honest. You're happier being faithful and being in love with one person," he said.

He said that there came a time when he realized that Chrissy was going to be that one person for him.

"At a certain point, I just decided that person was Chrissy," he continued.

"I decided I wasn't gonna mess with somebody else anymore."

He added that his "whole life" became "lighter" when he took on that mentality.

He revealed that when he met Chrissy, their chemistry was so instantaneous, they hooked up on the first night.

"We've talked about it before, but we had sex the first night and hit it off," John revealed.

How cute is that?!

However, they couldn't get together right away! "We were both seeing other people at the time," he went on.

"There was kind of a looseness at the very beginning, but we fell in love not long after that."

Dax then asked John if he ever feels extra pressure to be faithful, considering how iconic their relationship has been to their fans.

John replied, explaining that he does feel pressure, in a good way, explaining that he knows the repercussions of cheating on Chrissy would be catastrophic to his personal and professional life.

"I feel like it almost makes it less likely that I would do anything to [expletive] it up. Chrissy has 12 million Twitter followers," he said.

"If I were to do anything, it would be career suicide. It would be terrible. It just gives you another reason to not [expletive] it up."
