Mandy Moore Speaks Out After 'This Is Us' Writer Jas Waters Dies At 39

This Is Us cast and crew members are remembering the life of beloved writer Jas Waters, who passed away Wednesday. In a statement given by writers of the NBC show, Jas was remembered as a "brilliant storyteller."

In addition to her work on This Is Us, Jas worked on shows such as Kidding, Hood Adjacent With James Davis and The Breaks.

One minute you're laughing and the next you're wiping away tears. The show is a rollercoaster of emotion and it's entirely due to the talented show writers.

Sadly, the writers' room is mourning the loss of one of their own.

It was announced that one of the show's writers, Jas Waters, had died. People has reported that she died by suicide.

In the statement released by *This Is Us* writers, Jas was described as a "force of nature."

"The entire #ThisIsUs family was devastated to learn of Jas Waters passing. In our time together, Jas left her mark on us and ALL over the show. She was a brilliant storyteller and a force of nature. We send our deepest sympathies to her loved ones. She was one of us. RIP @JasFly."

Show creator Dan Fogelman gave his own message of love to Jas and her legacy.

"This news took my breath away. Jas was absolutely brilliant and had so many stories still to tell. She made an indelible mark on our show and my heart breaks for her loved ones. RIP @JasFly," he wrote.

*This Is Us* star Mandy Moore has also broken her silence.

Chrissy Metz, who plays Kate Pearson on the show, also tweeted her condolences.

She wrote that Jas was not only a fantastic writer, but had a beautiful spirit.

In addition to *This is US*, Jas also worked on the show *Kidding* starring Jim Carrey.

Jas also worked on Hood Adjacent With James Davis and The Breaks.

The creator of *Kidding*, Dave Holstein, tweeted his condolences.

"This is a devastating loss for those who knew her and lived in her light," he shared.

Her management, Rain Management, referred to Jas as "a talented & gifted writer, an amazing person, & a sweet soul."
