Kendall Jenner Shuts Down Allegations That She Photoshopped Herself At A Protest

Amid the height of the recent #BlackLivesMatter movement, celebrities have been doing their part — taking advantage of their reach — to speak out against the racial injustices we've been seeing too much of in the U.S.

Unfortunately, over the weekend, a photoshopped photo of Kendall Jenner holding a sign advocating for black lives surfaced the internet, stirring up quite a bit of controversy.

But she wasted no time setting the record straight, letting her fans know that this was not her doing!

Information about the ongoing protests in the U.S. and around the world is rapidly changing and Diply is committed to providing the most recent data as it becomes available. Some of the information in this story may have changed since publication, and we encourage readers to follow their local trusted news outlet(s) to stay up to date on the latest information surrounding these events.

In this crazy world, the one thing we can always count on, or rather, the one family we can always count on to keep us entertained, is the Kardashian-Jenner family.

It seems like they are always in the news.

Sometimes it is for a good reason, but most of the time it isn't.

Between saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, or not saying anything at all when they should, or sometimes saying too much, they are always getting heat.

Sometimes it's undeserved, like the heat Kendall Jenner got for the one we're discussing today!

One of the major things the Kardashian-Jenners get heat for is their overuse of Photoshop.

They use it on themselves and even their surroundings.

It's seriously hilarious, and fans love calling them out. But this time, the family member in question is innocent!

If you used Twitter at all over the weekend, then there is a fairly good chance you stumbled upon this photo:

At first glance, it gave fans the impression that Kendall Jenner was actively participating in the protests happening in Los Angeles, advocating for the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

Unfortunately, upon further investigation by the Twitter community, it became abundantly clear that the photo was fabricated.

As you can see, her shadow in the background does not include the sign she appears to be holding. Furthermore, fans were able to track down the original photo where she is not wearing a mask, and is not holding a sign of any kind.

Naturally, people were *not* impressed, which is understandable.

It was assumed that Kendall, herself, used Photoshop to alter the photo so that she could appear supportive during these trying times, without actually having to be.

Fans, who believed that Kendall edited and posted this herself, found her error to be colossal.

And, of course, if she had actually edited and shared this herself, it would be incredibly offensive.

So, it's no wonder that people were up in arms over it.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that Kendall has been in hot water over something regarding #BlackLivesMatter.

Remember her infamous Pepsi commercial?

You know, the one where she abolished racism by handing a police officer a can of Pepsi?

Kendall starred in a Pepsi ad that essentially trivialized racism and the #BlackLivesMatter movement — something that she has obviously never experienced firsthand.

Pepsi eventually took down the commercial and publicly apologized after facing an overwhelming amount of criticism for their insensitive ad that essentially diminished the struggle that black people face on a regular basis.

"Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding," they said at the time.

"Clearly, we missed the mark, and we apologize. We did not intend to make light of any serious issue."

But it wasn't until the next episode of *Keeping Up With The Kardashians* aired that fans heard an apology from Kendall over her part in the Pepsi ad.

“I just feel really, really bad. Like, I feel really bad that anyone was ever offended. I feel really bad that this was taken such a wrong way,” she said, crying.

“I really don’t even know what to do at this point. It’s really depressing, and it bothers me every single day,” she continued.

“I just felt so [expletive] stupid. The fact that I would offend other people or hurt other people was definitely not the intent."

"And that’s what got me the most, is that I would have ever made anyone else upset," she went on.

"I just feel really, really bad. I feel really bad that anyone was ever offended. I feel really bad that this was taken such a wrong way and I genuinely feel like [expletive]."

"I have no idea how I'm gonna bounce back from it," she said.

While for the most part people were able to forgive and forget, the issue has resurfaced — given the current global climate regarding racial injustices, making the whole photoshopped #BLM sign situation that much harder for fans to swallow.

Anyway, after facing non-stop backlash over the weekend, Kendall finally addressed the infamous photo, assuring everyone that she had nothing to do with it.

Essentially, someone (aka a troll), dug up this old photo of Kendall and manufactured it to intentionally stir up drama.

She explained that while the photo is, indeed, photoshopped, she is not responsible for it and did not post it herself.

"This is photoshopped by someone. i DID NOT post this," she tweeted alongside the photo.

To her benefit, Photoshop is a fairly complex program. It's hard for me to imagine that she would do something like this on her own.

It's much easier to believe that someone who is well-versed in Photoshop would have done this out of boredom, just to rock the boat.

Do you think it's plausible that Kendall Jenner photoshopped a photo of herself holding a #BlackLivesMatter sign to convince fans that she was participating in a peaceful protest?
