Elisabeth Moss Gives Update On 'The Handmaid's Tale' Season 4

So much has gone on pause during the current pandemic, including the filming of our favorite TV shows and movies that we've been currently binge-watching to get us through it, like Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale.

Information about the coronavirus pandemic is rapidly changing and Diply is committed to providing the most recent data as it becomes available. Some of the information in this story may have changed since publication, and we encourage readers to use online resources from CDC and WHO to stay up to date on the latest information surrounding COVID-19.

*The Handmaid's Tale* has been a smash hit for its three-season run so far.

Based on the novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood from 1985, the show follows June, played by Elisabeth Moss, as she attempts to escape the dystopian world where women are enslaved based on their fertility.

The fourth season of the show was being filmed when the pandemic hit.

“We were only two weeks in, so we actually have an entire season to shoot,” Elisabeth Moss revealed to Extra in a new interview promoting her upcoming film, Shirley.

Elisabeth then updated fans on if they would be returning to film soon, but it wasn't the answer most of us wanted to hear.

“We want to go back to work because families have people to support and rent they need to pay."

"But at the same time no human’s life is worth a TV show. We’re just trying to figure out how to do it safely for everybody," Elisabeth revealed.

While we definitely applaud Elisabeth and the show at large for putting safety first, it's hard not to be a little disappointed!

The show's fourth season had already been delayed once before.

It was initially pushed back when Margaret Atwood released a follow-up novel, The Testaments, in September of last year, which show editor Wendy Hallam-Martin said "will dictate a lot of what happens in the next season."

I don't know about you, but this has all made me even more excited for season 4, no matter how long I have to wait!
