Jamie Foxx Defends Jimmy Fallon Amidst 'Saturday Night Live' Blackface Backlash

The usually unproblematic comedian and late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon is under fire for a recently resurfaced clip of the actor doing blackface on an episode of_ Saturday Night Live_ back in 2000.

The clip has been going viral on Twitter and the internet has a lot to say about it.

The latest celebs to weigh in on the scandal is Jamie Foxx.

The clip of Jimmy Fallon was resurfaced by Twitter account @chefboyohdear. The tweet caused the hashtag #jimmyfallonisoverparty to trend on Twitter.

The video shows Jimmy Fallon in full blackface impersonating Chris Rock on an episode of Saturday Night Live in 2000.

Jimmy has since apologized for the clip, saying there was "no excuse" for his behaviour.

"I am very sorry for making this unquestionably offensive decision and thank all of you for holding me accountable," he wrote.

Now, friend and fellow comedian Jamie Foxx is defending Jimmy publicly.

"He was doing an impression of Chris Rock. It wasn't black face," Jamie Foxx said in a comment on E! News' Instagram post.

"We comedian I know it's a tough time right now. But this one is a stretch."

The Oscar winner continued, "On a show called in living color we played every race. Let this one go, We got bigger fish to fry ... #changecourse."
