Jeffree Star is no stranger to beauty controversy.

The famous YouTuber dealt with a major crisis this past summer when customers found shards of plastic in his Jeffree Star Cosmetics lipsticks.

Some also found moisture spots and hair in theirs.

As you can imagine, fans were not happy with the issues.

His stuff is not cheap, y'all. People just want what they're paying for.

The drama felt eerily similar to what happened to Jaclyn Hill earlier that year when her lipsticks were criticized for having a whole mess of faults.

In the end, Jeffree and his team issued out a lot of replacements.

While the beauty mogul never issued a formal statement on the matter to his customers, he did do right by thing by replacing any faulty products.

Good job, Jeffree! It really smoothed things over.

But now, Jeffree Star Cosmetics is being dragged again.

This time, for announcing the release of a new eyeshadow palette called "Cremated" during the coronavirus pandemic.

As it stands right now, there are 4,943,001 cases of the coronavirus in the world right now and 321,998 deaths.

The product was released to fans via Instagram on Friday, along with a video reveal on YouTube on Saturday.

Instead of being excited over the product launch, which is May 22, fans have been slamming the beauty mogul for being "tone-deaf."

His bad timing has also been put into question.

One user even made it clear that the name of the palette hits on a personal level.

"This is extremely inappropriate. We are in the middle of a pandemic and ppl are dying. Not only are u releasing a palette at all, but it’s death themed. Tone deaf & really shows how little you actually care. Ppl can’t even attend their own loved ones funerals wtf is wrong with u?" another added.

Not everyone is against Star. Some pointed out that he had named the palette in 2019.

"At the end of the day, yes cremation may have negative connotations for some. However he is not responsible for the personal matters in others lives. Death is normal, cremation is normal! While it's sad with the current situation of the world, it's just the name of a palette," this user added.

When Jeffree released his video launch of the product, he gave fans some answers.

He began by explaining why the product is being launched during the pandemic.

Turns out, it was "supposed to come out in April but the coronavirus has had the whole entire beauty industry, of course, as well as the entire planet shook and a lot of brands and a lot of us companies have had to move things back."

"We were supposed to have a very gothic and dark spring but of course things did not go according to plan, but that’s okay."

As for the controversial name "Cremated," he explained the reasoning behind that, too.

"Cremated is like my iconic catchphrase, I'm deceased," Star said.

He continued:

"Cremated, as well as being, of course, very dark and gothic, it is also a term that I like to use, you know when you're really blown away by something, you’re mesmerized and it’s so sickening? Me and my friends like to say, [expletive], I'm cremated."

He also had a lot to say to his haters on Snapchat after facing backlash.

"To me, it's so much more than an eyeshadow palette. There are so many meanings with my art," he said.

"I created it for the world and it's allowed to be interpreted any way anyone wants to take it, but I always come from a good place."

He also went on to defend the morbid theme of his new product.

"On a real level you guys, my own father was cremated. My two dogs who passed away last year were cremated, so nothing always comes from a negative place," he said.

When fellow YouTuber Sebastian Williams made a video about the backlash, Star allegedly responded to that, too.

"People want to make it personal and be offended always, but the world just doesn't work like that," he reportedly wrote via direct message.

He also said that he didn't want to postpone the product launch due to quality issues.

"I have three more eyeshadow palettes launching in 2020 and several new products launching and Cremated would've been moved to 2021, way later in the year," he reportedly told Williams.

"I never want to risk makeup becoming expired; that's not the best for the customer experience. I want my customers to get the best quality product."
